OWH Sketch Challenge #192

Confession.  This card did not start out looking like this at all  After trimming the cardstock - TWICE - into the wrong sizes, this is what I ended up with.  The sketch is great but I changed a few things to "fix" what I had done.  If you turn the sketch sideways and stand on your head, there are some similarities.   I think I should stay away from the paper trimmer for the rest of the day! Have a great week :-)

SOL September Gallery Entry

I posted this entry into the Stamps of Life Gallery for the month of September.  The club set for September was Christmas lights and, as a member of the Die Hard Club, it arrived with matching dies.  Sweet!   I kept this card CAS, die cutting the lights on glitter cardstock, adding some jewelry cord, and stamping the sentiment...easy peasy!

OWH Sketch Challenge #191

I had to wait for Football Sunday to wrap up before taking on this challenge.  It was cold and rainy, but a great win for our team...yay!

My card for the OWH Sketch Challenge #191 is an old-fashioned Christmas card using a 6x6 pad I found in my stash.  I did a little modifying to use a Christmas stocking instead of a banner.  Thanks for visiting!

OWH Boot Camp - White Space

Sometimes less is more.  Don't get me wrong...I'm VERY attached to my 40% off embellishments and designer paper pads!  The Boot Camp homework was to create a generous white space card with a focal point.  I picked up this dove punch at a big box store last year after the holidays (on sale, of course) and now I know what I'll use it for!  Also, the embossing folder coordinates with the label die which makes it so easy to work with.  Thanks for visiting!

Where's Mummy?

I remember seeing something like this in a magazine a while ago on a treat bag and thought it would make a great Halloween card.  Halloween is my second favorite holiday to make cards. This project was super easy once I decided what to use for the strips.  I tried gauze from the first aid kit but it was difficult to attach to a card base and ended up a little bulky.  I also tried white duct tape but it kept sticking on EVERYTHING except the card!  Finally, using circle punches for the eyes and white paper strips (torn and distressed)...ta-da...a mummified Halloween card.  The best part?  It is supposed to look dirty and uneven!!  Thanks for visiting :-)

Dark clouds, raining, thunder and lightning {sigh}.  Thank goodness for a new OWH sketch to keep me from cleaning house. 

I decided to try to put together a masculine birthday card for Sketch Challenge #190.  I tend to reach for the kraft paper when making a "guy-ly" card so here you go!

Pawsitive Update #9 - Lions and Tigers and...

Bears?  Oh No - It's Thunder!  Nikki (our puppy cousin) may be the only puppy we know that heads to the bathroom and sits on the toilet seat when thunder is rollin' outside.  As long as she feels safe, you go girl!

OWH Tutorial - Starburst Card

OMG!  Since becoming involved with OWH, I've been viewing some of the wonderful tutorials that are posted on the OWH website.  I was so excited to see the one on starburst cards...yay!  I've wanted to make one for a long time but honestly didn't know where to start.  The tutorial was a share from Shannan of Pink Tulle with Feathers and Sequins in the Tutorial/Cardmaking 201 section.  I "burst" into cardmaking mode and really appreciated her extra comments about what not to do!  I love learning new techniques and I'm so grateful for all the creative folks that share their ideas.

 

Now I must confess.  After completing this card, I was feelin' pretty good until...OH NO!  I used glitter cardstock...eeek!  I also used a ghost.  Although he's a cute ghost, I wasn't sure if it fit the "HallNOween" guidelines.  And, did I mention that the deadline to send in Halloween cards had also passed!  So...my excuse - I'm still a "newbie."  Hmmm...how long can I use that line?  Anyway, a special friend will be receiving this card for Halloween and my glitter issue has been solved.  This sign will be taped on my wall before I start working on any OWH cards:

OWH Sketch Challenge #189

Another wonderful sketch from OWH!  I plan on using this one over and over...

My card for this challenge includes this cute snail from The Stamps of Life.  It was the stamp of the month for August.  I had not used it yet so when I saw this sketch challenge, I thought this would be the perfect time to break it out AND do a little paper piecing.  The original sentiment reads "Good Old Fashioned Snail Mail."  I actually cut the stamp and curved it on the block to just say "Snail Mail."  That's the great thing about clear stamps...you aren't limited to one image.  Hopefully, I "snailed" it!  Thanks for looking!

Pawsitive Update #8 - Happy Birthday Sadee!

 

My Sadee is 10 years old today.  She's been a joy from day one when we brought her home.  She took the day off from cardmaking today with my blessing and chewed on her new HUGE bone.
