CAS(e) This Sketch #325

Hi there! What a great sketch this week over at CAS(e) this Sketch!  The six elements could be a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g and used for any theme:

I went with glasses for a recent visitor:

The Impression Obsession glasses were die cut twice in black cardstock and once in blue vellum.  The MFT sentiment was white heat embossed and die cut with a MFT sentiment strip die.  After the glasses and sentiment were added to the card base, I inlaid the blue vellum into the frames of the glasses and added Nuvo Gloss Glitter for some sparkle and shine.

Perfect Sketch!

When I saw this sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch, I screamed 'PERFECT' for my 4th of July cards!

On a Neenah Solar White card base, I stamped images from Lawn Fawn's Happy 4th set with Catherine Pooler's Rockin' Red and Something Borrowed plus Delicata's Silvery Shimmer.  I added a strip of silver glitter washi tape (Heidi Swapp) and finished off with a few fireworks on the inside :)

Rainy Day

Happy Sunday!  My team has a bye this weekend so I headed to My Happy Place (aka The Doghouse) to make a few cards.  I wanted to play along with the CASology and CAS(E) this Sketch challenges:

This card looks a lot like outside of my window right now - rain, rain, and more rain.  What better support than a friend with an umbrella when the going gets tough. 

The vertical panel was inked up with various Distress colors in blues and purples.  After masking off for the umbrella, I stamped the rain with VersaMark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  I added the paper pieced umbrella and stamped the sentiment.   It's funny how it sounds so simple when you write it out but not necessarily so "clean & simple" when you're actually doing it!  LOL!

O Christmas Tree

Happy Friday!  Today's card is for the latest CASology challenge and CAS(e) this Sketch:

Another Christmas card done...happy dance! 

This card used three different stamp sets so I could create the Charlie Brown tree.  I first stamped the tree stand (masking off the tree part), then lined up the little bough, curving the stamp a bit.  I added the little ornament that I colored with Copics and shined up with Glossy Accents.   Snoopy and the sentiment were stamped next in black ink.  Lastly, I added a little scrap banner so the images wouldn't float into space :).

I love that little tree!  A quick story ~ On the corner of the block where I used to live there was this scraggly evergreen tree that seemed to stay at about 2 feet tall for years.  Every Christmas, in the middle of my Christmas decorating frenzy, I would sneak down to the tree after dark and hang one red ball.  When I moved, I passed the tradition on to my favorite neighbors.  They send me a pic every year.  Gotta love Christmas!

Best Witches!

Hi there!  I made another Halloween card to play along with CAS(e) this Sketch this week:

There's a lot of glittery heat embossing on this one.  The witch stamp and flourish are from Impress, as is the sentiment.  The harlequin border is actually washi tape from an old Halloween set in my stash.  I'm patting myself on the back right now because I used some washi tape rather than "save" it...I know you know what I mean!

Merry Wreath

Happy Football Day!  Before our big game today, I put together a card for the latest CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge:

And here's the card (surprise...it's not a Halloween one :)

First I gold heat embossed the Wonderful Wreath from Catherine Pooler.  Then I sponged on 3 different colors of Distress Inks: Cracked Pistachio, Mowed Lawn, and Lucky Clover.  I only had smooth sponge daubers in my stash so I cut a corner off of a kitchen sponge.  I'll never miss it!  I added the Merry Script die cut from Memory Box in gold metallic cardstock over the top with Stick-It.  Finally, a few red Pico Embellisher berries and clear rhinestones colored with a red Copic.

Gone Batty!

It's a good day today!  Double stamp day at my local espresso stand and I made a Halloween card for the latest CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge:

Next to Christmas, Halloween cards are my favorite cards to make!  I thought this sketch was perfect for my little bats:

The not-so-scary bat and sentiment are from a stamp set by Taylored Expressions.  I love all the little faces that come with the set.  I did a very simple Copic coloring job and added Glossy Accents to the eyeballs.  When it was too late, I realized I did not use Copic-friendly cardstock (it bled through badly), so I cut a stitched rectangle and mounted it on a Graphite card base from Memory Box.  Problem solved!

Happy Little Monsters

Hi there!  Today I made 2 cards for my grandson who is coming to visit very very soon.  I did take some liberties with  CAS(E) this Sketch #185 and flipped it for my first card - I hope it still works for the challenge!

These adorable monster stamps are from My Favorite Things.  I LOVE them and I'm thinking I'll be using them on some of my Halloween cards too.  I was looking for something in one of my storage drawers and, what do you know...there were those Hero Arts Neon ink pads that I bought a long time ago.  Two of them still had the shrink wrap on (eek!).  So, to show them some love and see if they were still juicy enough, I inked up the little guys with the blue, green, and orange.  That orange is really neon but I think it worked great for a kid's card!  I did add Glossy Accents to the eyes and Wink of Stella to their spots.  I hope he likes these happy little monsters as much as I do!

How do you like them apples?

Hi there!  A quick thank you card today using the latest sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch:

Using heavy Strathmore Multi-Media cardstock for the base, I stamped the apples (old Hampton Art's)and sentiment (Stamps of Life) in VersaFine Onyx Black and then clear heat embossed.  The apples were watercolored with my Zigs and then shined up with Glossy Accents.  I really liked this sketch and I'm sure it's going to be a keeper!

Nine Little Cupcakes

Happy Friday!  Another post today for a card I made for Shopping Our Stash #222 - Birthday.  It's been a while since I have played and I've missed their fun themes.  The Birthday stash theme is to use something from your oldest birthday supplies.  Before Cuttlebugs and Big Shots, I accumulated some (maybe quite a few) punches.  One of the first punches I bought was a little cupcake.  It cuts the frosting and cupcake separately.  I guess whomever made the punch wishes to remain anonymous...no name to be found on the little guy!

I used the Case This Sketch Challenge for the layout thinking nine cupcakes are better than just one!  They might be taking up too much real estate for a CAS card but I thought they turned out cute :-)

Here's the card:

Nine punches to get the Kraft bases, three punches on pink CS, three on blue CS, and 3 on yellow, and you end up with nine cupcakes.  I used stickles for the sprinkles and an older birthday sentiment from Hero Arts.  Sorry the pic is a little dark...it's a very gray fall day here this morning.

Feeling Batty!

Woo Hoo!  I can check off another Halloween card to mail using CAS(E) this Sketch #142:

Here's my card:

The background was watercolored on Strathmore watercolor paper with Distress inks.  This time I let the watercolors dry on their own overnight.  You have no idea how hard that was for me to not keep messing with it - LOL!  The bats are die cut using Memory Box "Swooping Bat" dies and the heat embossed sentiment is from Great Impressions.  The watercolor paper was then layered on Memory Box's Jack-o-Lantern cardstock.  This was a fun sketch to play with...endless possibilities!  Thanks for stopping by today!
