OWH Midweek Throwdown: Color Challenge

Today's Throwdown is a color challenge using PURPLE and YELLOW.  I didn't have much time today to play so I thought a little "Monster Love" was in order.  I actually used a sticker, which I rarely do, but this cute little 3D monster with the bulging eyes matched my purple paper!  I did glue him down really well with Tombow Mono Glue so he should travel well.  Thanks for stopping by and Happy Hump Day!

Supplies:  Bazzill Basics Cardstock, My Favorite Things' Dies, Cuttlebug Embossing Folders, Impress Sentiment Stamp, Recollection Monster Stickers.

Mojo Monday 337

I was working on cards for Operation Write Home, looking for some fresh inspiration (yes, mojo :-) and stumbled upon the sketch for Mojo Monday.  I like the clean look and put together the following card.  I'm a newbie to this blog but look forward to playing again!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Circles Galore

Another scrappy day for me and I mean that in the happiest way!  This week's Throwdown was to create a card using more than one circle.  I made a couple of Miss You cards for Operation Write Home, one masculine and one feminine.  I'm trying to fill my donation box to get it mailed by next week and I feel like I'm running out of time!

The first card is the girly one.  I used all scraps for this one, some circle punches and dies, and a sentiment from a Hero Arts OWH set.

The second is my guy card.  Circles = Baseballs, right?  I did a little stitching on this one, some baseball brads, a sentiment from Stampabilities (one of my favorites), and, of course, baseball DSP (Grand Slam by Echo Park).  Thanks so much for stopping by!

OWH Sketch Challenge #216

This week's sketch over at Operation Write Home is #216:

For my card, I modified the element a bit, using an adorable digi from Doodle Pantry's "Easter Peeps" collection.  This set was a freebie for entering their challenge last month!  Sweet!  I fussy cut the bunny, added some grass, and used the banner sentiment that is also part of the collection.  Thanks for stopping by and, on this St. Patrick's Day, "Erin Go Bragh!"

Supplies:  Neenah Solar White Cardstock, MME "Ooh La La" 6x6 Paper Pad, Coredinations/Ranger "Worn Lipstick" Cardstock, Doodle Pantry Digital Image & Sentiment, Savvy Grass Die, Glossy Accents (for carrot & nose), and Recollections Brads.

DPDC44: Any Digi Goes

Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #44 is "Any Digi Goes."  I love the "Easter Peeps" collection and thought I would link up one of my Easter cards.  All the paper is from the scrap drawer (yay!), added some twine from The Twinery, Glossy Accents, and enamel dots from MME.  Thanks for stopping by!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Scrappy Backgrounds

I am lovin' the sketches and challenges that focus on using up those scraps!  This week's Throwdown was to create a background out of scraps.  I cut my paper scraps into 1/2" strips, added a sentiment as a bold focal point with a chalk ink border, and called it done.  I was going to add ribbon (or embossing or something), but I thought the background was busy enough for this card.  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the week!

Supplies:  The Paper Studio "Lola & Luca" Paper Pack scraps, Impression Obsession Sentiment Stamp, VersaFine Onyx Black Ink, Derwent Coloursoft Pencils, and Chalk Ink Marker (White).

OWH Sketch #215

Today's sketch on the Operation Write Home blog has lots of layers...and I do mean lots!  I love the look but it does take me a while to put one together.  I started with thoughts of Spring (11 days away) and opening season for baseball for a masculine card.  That one became an "oops" but I posted it below.  It's missing an entire layer!  The other card was on the feminine side with a watercolor background using Distress Inks, a little heat embossing for the flowers, "springy" papers, and a little cheater bow.  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!  I'm going to anxiously await my Die-Versions order after happily blog hopping this weekend :-)...wasn't that fun!?!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Mother's Day Cards

Having lost my Mom a couple of years ago, I haven't made any Mother's Day cards since the last one I made for her.  This challenge was a little tough to get into but I think Mom would like the idea that some hero will be sending this to their Mom who is missing them every day.  Thanks for stopping by :-)

Supplies:  Stamps of Life Grape Cardstock and Ink, Basic Grey "Kioshi" Paper Pad, Stamps of Life Mini Flower Dies, Hot Fudge Studio Sentiment Stamp, Heidi Grace Mini White Pearls, and Green Satin Ribbon from Scrap Jar.

W2SB #3: And the Oscar goes to...{Card #2)

This is a second card for W2SB's March Challenge.  I needed a girly card and decided I would go with the second listed theme for inspiration:  "The stuff that dreams are made of" from The Maltese Falcon, 1941.  I hope this card fits the theme.  I think Walt Disney was a dreamer extraordinaire!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Don't forget to join in the fun and link up a card by March 21st!

Supplies:  Paper Zone White Pearl & Blue Pearl Cardstock, Sandy Lion "Tinkerbell" DSP, Invoke Arts "Courage Quote" Stamp, VersaFine Onyx Black Ink, Wink of Stella Clear Shimmer Brush (for wings), Glossy Accents (for eyes & lips), White Gel Pen (for stars), and lots of little bling.

Words 2 Scrap By Challenge #3: And the Oscar Goes To...

W2SB launched their 3rd challenge for March in honor of the Oscar ceremony.  The inspiration comes in the form of quotes from a few favorite movies and I hope you'll play along! The movies are:
  • There's no place like home. (The Wizard of Oz, 1939)
  • The stuff that dreams are made of. (The Maltese Falcon, 1941)
  • Here's looking at you, kid. (Casablanca, 1942)
  • May the force be with you. (Star Wars, 1977)
I love what Bobbi and Sybrina put together because it makes you "think!"  So...I thought and thought and decided I would go with Casablanca and "Here's looking at you, kid."  It's one of my favorite black & white movies and I love the champagne scene between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.  (This is NOT an OWH-friendly card (glitter) but will make a great anniversary card needed later this month :-).  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies:  Pop Tones' Black Licorice Cardstock, Coredinations White Glove Glitter Paper, Savvy Sentiment Stamp, Impress Image Stamp, VersaMark Dazzle, Judikins White Detail Embossing Powder, My Favorite Things' Die-namics Blueprint 1, Heidi Grace Rhinestones, and Celebrate It! Black/Silver Glitter Ribbon.
