The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #296

Hi All!  Can you tell it rained here today?  This is my 3rd (and last) blog post for today :-)

I'm playing along with The Paper Players #296:

Instead of adding a circle die cut, I masked off a circle before the watercolor splattering began.  The happy sentiment is from WPlus9.  I added some purple (my dear friend's favorite color) watercolored hearts, covered them with Wink of Stella, and then lathered on the Glossy Accents.  You do NOT want to know what my desk looked like after this!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful Memorial Weekend!

Speedy Sandpipers

The Cue Card from CASology this week is "Fast."  I'm hoping that "speedy sandpipers" qualify!  I know they are pretty darn fast when the puppies take off after them at the beach!

I used one of my favorite stamps from Stampin' Up, stamping it twice on gray-toned sketch paper.  I added a little color and shading with Prismacolor gray and white pencils to keep a 'masculine' feel to the card.   The sentiment is also from the same "Wetlands" SU set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful Memorial Weekend!

Shopping Our Stash #253: Anything But a Card...Eeeek!

This week's challenge over at SOS is to create "Anything But a Card."  I say eek because this is something I rarely do...even though I have hoarded lots of supplies to do so!  But, I knew I was taking a bottle of wine over to the hostess of a Memorial Day BBQ and thought, why not?  Let's jazz it up a bit :-)

I used the great Stars & Stripes digi paper pack from Doodle Pantry, along with a sentiment and USA Star from older OWH digi files by Doodle Pantry as well.  Popped up the star on the wine label and tied on the Thank You tag with a scrap of ribbon from my stash.  I thought I was going to have to drink all the wine until I figured out the best way to adhere the label!  I finally used spray adhesive and wrapped some ribbon around the bottle to hold it in place until it set.  Cheers for me!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day remembering all those brave souls that served our country!

Cards in Envy - Deep Blue Challenge

Hi CIE friends!  The latest challenge from Cards in Envy is up and it is DEEP BLUE.  Please use mostly deep blue on your flat-enough-to-fit-in-an-envy card and play along with us!

I'll admit, I struggled a bit with this at first but then I saw this great summer top in a store that was a navy, lime green, and white floral print.  I loved that color combo and thus, this card was "born" with minimal labor :-).  And, no, I didn't buy the top ~ just took a picture, LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by and we look forward to seeing how "blue" you can get...in a good way, of course!

Shopping our Stash #251: April Showers bring May Flowers

Whew!  I made this challenge in time, I hope!  April Showers bring May Flowers AND Rainbows :-)

I pulled out my Distress Inks and was practicing my "rainbows."  I thought it made a nice backdrop for these simple blooms from My Favorite Things.  I used a sentiment from Gina K. that gives me a little creative license with the inside...birthday, sympathy, etc...whatever I may need at the time.  A few sequins tossed in and I mounted the stitched layer to Hero Arts black notecard from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ have a great week!

CASology Week #197 - Tear

To tear or not to tear.  I felt like tearing something but then a tear came because I just learned that a dear friend's 11-year-old fur baby, Cowboy, went to play fetch in heaven.  I'm a long time rescue Mom and totally understand how the loss of a pet affects your life.  I wanted to send him a note, so here's my card for the latest CASology Challenge:

I hope this gives him some comfort.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

Here's the stuff I used:

Cardstock:  Grout Gray (MFT), Solar White (Neenah)
Dies:  The Stamps of Life
Stamps:  Sentiment (Hero Arts), Pawprint (Comotion Rubber Stamps)
Ink:  VersaFine Onyx Black, MFT Grout Gray
Embossing Folder:  Darice

W2CB: 4 Pieces of Pie for 5 People

Hi All!

I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day and at Words 2 Craft By we'd like to continue honoring all Moms all month long!  Our theme this month is inspired by the following definition of motherhood from Tenneva Jordan :

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people,

promptly announces she never did care for pie.

You don't need a special day to thank your Mom or tell her you love her, right?  Please join us for our latest challenge.  The winning card/project this month will be asked to join us as a guest I-Teamer PLUS receive a $10 gift certificate to My Favorite Things!  Come play with us!

Cards in Envy - Just Us Girls

Girls just wanna have fun and so does Cards in Envy!  Create a card (any size) that will fit in an envy for mailing using the theme "Just Us Girls."  Yes...girly cards!

My girly card was first stenciled with Distress Ink (Spun Sugar) and then I added a strip of green from Lawn Fawn's Polka Mon Ami 6x6 paper pad.  The girly girl was colored with Copics using an Elizabeth Craft Designs outline sticker.  After coloring and blinging up the bunny slippers with Stickles, I decided on the perfect sentiment from Great Impressions.   Some rhinestones in the pigtails and Wink of Stella and she was ready to be popped up on the card after fussy cutting.

We hope you'll show us your girly side and play along!  Thanks for visiting and being a CIE fan!
