Hi there!  Today Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the latest challenge over at Craft Your Passion.  The theme is Anything Goes so I decided to do another Easter card using the super cute Doodle Pantry "Easter Egg Ants."  I love this image...but I'm partial to those wacky DP ants anyway.  You never know what they'll do next!

I had a lot of fun with this one.  Using one of the stamps from MFT's Jumbo Abstract Art set and Momento ink, I created a paint splattered background.  I printed the pre-colored Doodle Pantry image and added some Wink of Stella to the paint for a little sparkle, attached the sentiment from the set with eyelets and finished it off with a little Twinery black/white twine.

SOS #194: Neon Rainbow

My card today is being entered in the current Shopping Our Stash Challenge #194: Neon Rainbow.  The theme is to use neon -OR- a rainbow -OR- use rainbow colors.  I thought about what to do for a couple of days (too long) and then I just gave in to the lost mojo and started die cutting rainbow colored cardstock!  Here's what I ended up with (with no design plan whatsoever):

Using MFT's Double Dot Border die, I cut out the different rainbow colors.  They ended up too wide for the base layer, so I then cut them all in half, glued them down, trimmed the edges, and now I have empty white space at the bottom.  Geez!  I added The Stamps of Life Happy Birthday shadow dies and still had empty white space.  I started going through my birthday stamps and found this never before used sentiment from MFT's Happy Everything stamp set.  Lastly I randomly applied Glossy Accents to some of the dots for a little interest.   I really try to NOT need belated birthday cards but just in case...I have one for my stash completely made from scraps.  I feel good about that!

Tip:  I found those little bits of paper that hang on delicate die cuts to be very irritating.  I know Sizzix has a special brush and pad to remove them, but I just use a toothbrush and foam piercing pad to rub over the die cut and those little hangers on just brush right off.  (Yes, it was a new, free toothbrush from the dentist :-)

Hoppy Easter!

Things are hopping in the Girl Cave this morning!  Here's another Easter card using Tuesday Morning Sketches #293:

I used all the elements but did a little tilting...hopefully not too much!  The bunny image, DP and sentiment are from Doodle Pantry's "Quirky Bunny" digi that I layered on MFT's stitched circle die cuts.  He's so darn cute!  I touched up a bit with Copics and Glossy Accents and added some Prima flowers with multi-colored rhinestones.

For Peeps Sake!

My card today is for The Paper Players Challenge #237:

I am trying to work on my Easter cards and this great sketch gave me a little nudge and a smile.  I knew I wanted to use Doodle Pantry's "Triple Chicks" (a free download) and I thought this was the perfect layout!  I merged some Easter eggs from Doodle Pantry's "Quirky Bunny" and colored with Copic markers.  I used an old border punch for the grass.  The die cut egg is from Memory Box (2 layering dies) and the ribbon banners are from the overflowing remnant jar.  Finished it up with a little Wink of Stella and the "peeps" are ready to go!

OWH Mid-Month Throwdown: Red, White & Blue

The March Mid-Month Throwdown for Operation Write Home is to create a card using red, white & blue in any of the five OWH themes (Miss You, Love, Thank You, Birthday, and Thinking of You). 

I am way behind with my Any Hero cards, so went with a simple card to a Super Star Hero!

The DP was in my scrap bin and I'm not sure where it's from.  I layered it on MFT Blueberry cardstock after die cutting a star.  I then die cut another smaller red star and heat embossed the sentiment (Stampendous) with white detail embossing powder.  The red star is popped up a bit with foam tape.

Live Love Cards Challenge #1: Stencils

I'm a huge fan and follower of Darlene DeVries (of darlenedesign.com).  Her videos are awesome, very easy to understand, and always make me feel like "I can do that!"  Live Love Cards is her Cardmaking Community and I'm not regretting becoming a member for one second!  

The first challenge is to use stencils.  Lord knows I have more than I can probably ever (or will) use, so I picked one that was still in the package and went to work.  The first attempt was fun but not photo worthy!  This is my second attempt using a MFT stencil and Ranger embossing paste.  I added a vellum banner with a heat embossed sentiment, lined the edge with washi tape, and added a big Kaisercraft black enamel dot.  When all else fails...I go to black & white!

Doodle Pantry New Release: Punctuate It!

Good morning!  There's a new release called Punctuate It! over at Doodle Pantry that includes SVG e-cut files and some nice PNG label files for quick cards.  And I do mean quick!

This card took about 10 minutes to put together!  I merged the label with a sentiment from Doodle Pantry's Easter Egg Ants and printed on white cardstock.  I then did diffused embossing on the panel and added the layer to my cardstock.  The cute flowers are part of the image set so all I had to do to finish them off was place Copic-colored pearls in the center.  Lastly I added Wink of Stella to the colored letters and topped them off with Glossy Accents.  That's it...that's all!

I had this old can of shaving cream so I thought I'd use it up to create my background.  Bonus...it made the card smell pretty good too!

 

 

I spread the shaving cream on a cutting board and spritzed the cream with Fireworks Ink (Bahama Blue, Lulu Lavendar, Grape Jelly).  I mixed it up a little with a palette knife and then laid down a piece of Distress watercolor paper.  After a minute or so, I picked up the watercolor paper and scraped the excess shaving cream off, towel dried, and let the paper finish drying on its own.  After it had dried, I added a die cut butterfly and vellum shadow (Paper Artist), sentiment stamp (Great Impressions), and scattered a few Czech crystal beads adhered with Multi Medium Matte (Ranger).  I distressed the edges and mounted it on Grape cardstock (TSOL).  Did I mention it smells like aloe?

Cards in Envy: Spring is in the Air!

Yes, it is!  Hopefully my friends in blogland are enjoying a little warm-up too.  Our weather has been so much warmer than normal that the spring flowers are a little confused and poking up their leaves.  Its still cold at night though so I hope they survive!

I went with a flower-theme and bright colors for my Cards in Envy DT card:

I found this light & airy flower from Great Impressions at my local LSS and I love it.  I colored the flower portion with different colors of Distress Markers.  First I colored the flower portion directly on the stamp, sprayed a fine mist of water, then stamped on watercolor paper.  Then I cleaned off the flower portion, colored the stem, sprayed with water and stamped again.  I did this for every flower and was pleased with how well it worked.  It was my first try at coloring directly on the stamp itself and I wasn't as messy as I thought I'd be!  Itty bitty rhinestones (colored with matching Copic colors) were scattered amongst the blossoms.  The sentiment is one of my favorites from The Stamps of Life.  I added an orange scalloped border to the watercolor paper and threaded pink & white twine, tying a bow on the side.  The pretty pink polka dot cardstock is from Pebbles' Basics collection.

Look Who's Turning 12!

It was a great cardmaking day today and for my last post, I have a boy's birthday card that I'd like to enter in the latest Shopping Our Stash Challenge #192 - Making it Count (use numbers) and Tuesday Morning Sketches #291:

 

 

 

The number 12 (Tim Holtz) is stamped in Colorbox Banana Ink.  The Impress sentiment was then stamped over the top in VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and die cut with MFT's stitched circle.  The sentiment is popped up on top of two starburst die cuts (Lifestyle Crafts) and layered on the navy star embossed strip (The Paper Studio).  The DP is from the Cosmic Whammy paper pad (The Paper Studio).  This card went together very quickly...I hope he likes it!

Crooked Stamper Sketch Challenge #2

The March Crooked Stamper Sketch Challenge #2 is off and running! 

I did a little flip again and came up with the notecard below.

I spent the past weekend at the beach so I was in a "Stay Calm, Beach On" mood.  The kraft cardstock was stamped with the Cheesecloth background stamp (MFT) inked up with VersaMark.  It was the closest thing I had for fishnet.  (My pink fishnet stockings from Jr. High are long gone :-)

The shell stamp (Inkadinkado) was stamped in MFT Kraft Ink and heat embossed on an oval die cut.  I did a little watercoloring on the image with Distress Markers and fussy cut out the starfish.  I was going for a very soft and neutral look.  The sentiment was stamped in Colorbox Chocolate Ink.  Lastly, I added some May Arts natural twine.  I just felt like it needed something else - but now I'm not sure...LOL!

The Paper Players Challenge #235: Color Challenge

The Challenge over at The Paper Players is a color-themed one:

I didn't have the "exact" colors, but did my best to match up.  The orangy cardstock looks brighter than it actually is and the kraft card base looks darker!  Today was not a good picture taking day...

The image is from Doodle Pantry's Cute Cake set with Wink of Stella highlights.  The background paper was made using the Happy Birthday background stamp from MFT, stamped in ginger Fresh Ink.  The die cut flowers are also from MFT with the centers heat embossed in the same ginger ink.

Cards in Envy: Anything Goes with a Bow

Happy Monday and welcome to another fun challenge from Cards in Envy!  The theme is Anything Goes with a Bow.  Use whatever theme you'd like as long as you have ribbon and/or a bow on your A2 card and the card will fit in an envelope without extra postage :-)

For my DT card, I'm anxiously waiting for Spring/Summer, so I created a kite with twine bows to lift my spirits...pun intended :-)  The kite was put together using an oldie but goodie kite tutorial on Operation Write Home. I did modify the measurements a bit for a slightly smaller kite.  The inside sentiment is "Happy Birthday" and is now in the mail to my sister-in-law!

Words 2 Scrap By #15: In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

March 1st and time for a new challenge over at W2SB!  The theme this month is "In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb."  What does the weather look like where you are?  You can probably guess what mine is when I tell you I have three pairs of rubber boots...yes, three!

For my I-Team card, lately I'm loving the color combo of orange and blue.  The DP on my card is from Doodlebug Designs.  I used Elizabeth Craft Designs stickers for the boots, colored them with Copics, and fussy cut.  They were fun to make and so easy - glad I picked them up on another impulse buy!  The sentiment is a perfect fit from Savvy and stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black.  All of the dies are from My Favorite Things. 

I hope you'll play along this month.  Any weather-related project or Lions/Lambs will work.  I hear the hostess this month has a birthday and she is giving out a present.  Don't be late for the party!!
