Words 2 Craft By #28: Mid-Month Challenge Reminder

Hi W2CB friends!  There's still time to play in the latest Words 2 Craft By Challenge:  April Suns and April Shadows.  The theme is based on this quote:

Our spring has come at last with the soft laughter of April suns
and shadow of April showers.   Byron Caldwell Smith

So appropriate for this time of year!  We've had a little of both so far this month out here, but I don't mind.  The flowers are coming to life!

We hope you'll stop by and play along!

Shopping Our Stash #248: Chip Off The Old Block

Two cards in one day...woo-hoo!  The second card I made today is to play along with the latest challenge over at Shopping Our Stash.  The theme, "Chip off the old Block," asks that we use chipboard on our card.

I started digging because I knew I had some.  I just wasn't sure where it was!  The little box I found was full of chipboard frames with pop-out centers and I can't even begin to tell you how old it is.  I'm almost embarrassed to say I had to cut the tape on the box because I had never even opened it!

I used two different frames - the outer frame of one for the sentiment, and the pop-out piece of the second frame for the gold foiled butterfly.  I added some die cut foil leaves and a few gold sequins to finish the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Here's the stuff I used:

Cardstock:  Classic Crest Sand, Hero Arts Black, Recollections Gold Foil
Dies:  My Favorite Things (leaves & sentiment), The Stamps of Life (Stitched Rectangle)
Chipboard:  DCWV Mariposa

CASology: Mom

Long time, no play!  I've missed some great Cue Cards over the past few weeks due to some family medical issues.  All's well now and on the mend, so I headed out to the She-Shed for some crafty time!

This week's Cue Card over at CASology is MOM and I wanted to play!

Although my Mom has passed, I always try to make a Mother's Day card for my DIL.  She is a great Mom to my special little grandson!

I stamped a tiny polka dot background to ground the stitched heart die cut.  The sentiment is heat embossed with white detail embossing powder and a little polka dot flower and black upholstery thread finished it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Cards in Envy: Another Year Older

Time for birthday cards over at Cards in Envy!  Create a card (any size) with a birthday theme but make sure it's flat enough to fit in an envy :-)

I must give credit where credit is due.  I CASE'd this card from a project guide download for Stamp of Approval's Young At Heart Collection.  The card I fell in love with was created by Lisa Harrolle and I didn't change too much on this one.  I loved the colors ~ it just screams HAPPY :-)

Please play along with us!  We can't wait to see your HAPPY!

Words 2 Craft By: April Suns and April Shadows

This month, the W2CB Challenge theme is April Suns and April Shadows based on this quote:

Our spring has come at last with the soft laughter of April suns
and shadow of April showers.
~ Byron Caldwell Smith

This describes our spring weather perfectly.  Last week we had 80 degree temperatures; this week the shadows are back!

For my I-Teamer card, I wanted to focus on the wonders of the season when the flowers are springing up and I get to replace my worn out gardening gloves to go play in the dirt.

I used the gorgeous Bold Blooms die set by Julie Ebersole over at Ellen Hutson and die cut red and green colored acetate.  The sentiment is from The Stamps of Life and I added some clear Pretty Pink Posh Droplets for a little bit of "rain."

We look forward to seeing your interpretation...please come play with us!  Thanks for stopping by :)

Cards in Envy - Flowers or Fantasy Challenge

Happy April!  The Cards in Envy Challenge this time around is to create a card (flat enough to mail in an envy) featuring flowers and/or fantasy characters.

I went with a black and white pallete so I added a little partial die cutting to the white embossed border with a matching die for a little more interest.  The white heat embossed flowers are from The Stamps of Life.  I finished it off with a little ribbon, enamel dots, and simple sentiment, also from The Stamps of Life.

Whether flowers or fantasy, we hope you'll play along with us!  Thanks for stopping by :)
