The Paper Players #355: Tic-Tac-Toe from Laurie & Joanne

It's a new week and time for another challenge over at The Paper Players.  This time, Laurie has come up with a fun Tic-Tac-Toe challenge and Joanne is hosting.  Just pick a row, across, down, or diagonally and build your project for any occasion:

For my card today, I went down with the center row using a banner, heart-shaped enamel dots, and an animal:

On a rainy day, I had colored up a bunch of Tim Holtz' Crazy Dogs to look like my fur kids :) Meet Gilda Girl, the 15-1/2 year old Mini Schnauzer.  She's a sweet old girl and although diabetic, blind, and almost deaf (selectively), she does just fine getting where she needs to go!

The backgrounds were put together with MFT background stamps (Paw Prints & Small Brick Wall) on SSS's Fog cardstock using SSS's Fog ink for a tone-on-tone look. The banner's sentiment from SSS's You are Pawesome stamp set was heat embossed with Ranger's white fine detail embossing powder.  The enamel hearts and Glossy Accents to shine up the eyes and her wet nose were the finishing touches.

We're anxious to see your Tic-Tac-Toe projects in the gallery this week.  Please check out the other design team members for some fun inspiration:

Cards in Envy: Baby Blue or Pretty Pink

Welcome back, CIE friends!  It's the third Monday of the month and time for a new challenge over at Cards in Envy.  This time around we are looking for cards that are in either baby blue or pretty pink colors.  It doesn't have to be a "baby" themed card...use any theme you'd like.  Just make sure it's flat enough to fit in an envy :)

For my DT card, I went with pretty pink with a large sentiment as the focal point:

The sentiment and the chevron cardstock were part of the MAMBI "I Believe in Pink" paper pack that benefits The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  The paper did all the work on this one!  I used Mama Elephant dies for the layers and a snippet of ribbon from Ellen Hutson.

I hope you'll visit the other DT members' blogs for some awesome inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping by and we'll see you in the gallery!  ~ Annie

The Paper Players #353: CAS "Summer Fun in the Water"

Boy, were there ever some gorgeous cards for LeAnne's color challenge last week!  Just WOW is all I can say!  Congrats to all the winners!

This week, Claire is the hostess with a fun CAS challenge perfect for summertime:

I'm fortunate to live on the coast and, for me, the ocean never fails to put me in a good mood.  I could watch the waves for hours and hours with my toes in the sand! (Except in the winter...then it's rubber boots!)

For my card, I used The Ton's Layering Wave stamp set and Catherine Pooler's inks in shades of blue: It's a Boy, Fiesta Blue, and Something Borrowed.  The sentiment is from Rubbernecker.  I added lots of splatters and a heavy dose of Stickles Frosted Lace for the foam on the wave.  It really sparkles in person!

We're anxious to see your CAS projects in the gallery this week.  Please check out the other design team members for some beautiful inspiration:

I Wish...

Hello friends!  The weather has been gorgeous here (with a capital G) and it's been super busy with family visits.   Everyone has returned home and I was able to play in The Doghouse for a bit this morning to join in a couple of challenges:

The cue from CASology was perfect!  My sweet grandson spent the week here and our adventures included treasure hunting on the beach for wishing rocks.  He went home with 30 happy wishes!  I don't have a "rock" stamp and can't draw worth a darn, so I went with the fond memory of blowing spent dandelion flowers (aka puff balls) as a child and making wishes :)

The masked off background was inked with Distress Oxide Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers on an Ultra Smooth White card base from Catherine Pooler.  I debated about the spritzing with water thing and decided not to being afraid the cardstock would warp!  I used an old Memory Box stamp of Meadow Flowers, masked off much of it, and stamped what I hope looks like those fluffy dandelion tops.  The dandelion seeds stamp that float off the puff ball is from Great Impressions.  Finally, the "wishing" sentiment is from Stampin' Up that I picked up at a garage sale many years ago.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend...I'm going to go blow on a dandelion and wish that my grandson comes back for a visit very soon!

The Paper Players #352: Color Challenge

Welcome back for another fun Paper Players challenge!  This week is hosted by LeAnne and she has chosen some lovely colors for you to work with.

And here's my card:

I did not have the exact Stampin' Up colors, but that's okay.  I matched the ink colors and cardstock that I had as closely as possible and you can do the same thing!  The most important thing is to have FUN :)

To create the stamped background I used the Oh, Hello Turnabout Stamp from Concord & 9th for the top layer, stamping with various inks: Gina K's Bubblegum, Catherine Pooler's Party Dress, and Fresh Ink's Fuschia.  I added Lawn Fawn's Hippo for some contrast.  The large hello (also Concord & 9th) was stamped, die cut, and smothered with Glossy Accents.  And, yes, it took a long time to dry! Before adding the die cut, I added scored lines halfway down the bottom of the card for a little interest.

We're anxious to see your colorful projects in the gallery this week.  Please check out the other design team members for some beautiful inspiration:

Cards in Envy: Patriotic Please

Gosh, time is flyin' by!  The 4th of July is tomorrow (already) and a new Cards in Envy Challenge begins with a Patriotic Please theme.  All you have to do is create a card flat enough to fit in an envy - no lumps or bumps - and featuring some red, white and blue.

Here's one of my 4th of July cards for a little inspiration:

I've been in a "use some of that pretty paper you've been hoarding saving mood" lately.  So...I reached for one of my faves, Doodlebug Designs' Stars & Stripes paper pack, added a piece of Heidi Swapp silver glitter washi, a Stampabilities sentiment in Catherine Pooler's Rockin Red ink, and some glittery stars.  I used MFT's Blueprints 18 for the die cuts.  The card base is Bazzill Sweet Shoppe cardstock. BOOM!

We hope you'll play along with us.  Don't forget to visit my talented teamies for fun inspiration!  Thanks so much for visiting and Happy 4th of July!

The Paper Players #351: Class of 2017

Welcome ~ It's a happy tail waggin' day here on Pawsitive Thoughts!  The Paper Players Theme Challenge starts today AND it's my first day as a Guest Designer on their awesome Design Team. I'm so honored and humbled to join this amazingly talented team and want to thank them for letting me play!

This week, Joanne came up with the perfect theme for this time of year:  Class of 2017.

I went with a graduation card in school colors for a little inspiration:

I started with a retired Doodle Pantry image for the grad cap, created a '2017' background (thank you, Misti :), and die cut stitched circles with MFT's Circle Stax.  The silver cardstock layer was embossed with The Paper Studio's Stars embossing folder.  The sentiment from MFT's More Essential Sentiments was heat embossed with white detail EP on a black banner.  Lastly, I sprinkled a few shiny die cut stars and sparkled up the cap with Spectrum Noir's Shimmer pen.

We can't wait to see what you create!  You'll find great inspiration on the DT's blogs, so please stop by and say hello to the team:
