The Paper Players #363: A Sketch from Nance

Welcome back to another Funday on Sunday over at The Paper Players!  It's sketch week and is hosted by the super-talented Nance:

I made another Halloween card because I need a lot of them!

Cute or spooky?  Depends on where the card is going.  Family always gets the spooky ones; the caregivers at my Dad's assisted living facility always get cute...makes sense right?

Using a Hero Arts black notecard (which I love because they're white inside :), I layered on DSP from Recollections "Halloween Boo" collection.  The ghost and sentiment dies are from Tim Holtz because he has scary stuff!  I tried to make the ghost look like he was busting out of the background by cutting little slits and folding back the edges.  Adding Jillibean enamel stars and Stickles Black Diamond to the ghost's eyes and mouth finished off the card.  Boo!

I think you'll have fun playing along with this sketch - it's a good one!  Check out my teamies blogs for more inspiration:

Happy Fall!

Happy first day of Fall!  It's sunny, a little breezy, the leaves are falling, and I had some time to make a card this morning.  A good day.  I really liked the current Freshly Made Sketch by Jen.  It looks great no matter which way you flip it!

A little disclaimer:  Too much coffee, no breakfast, and layering stamps do not mix well for me but I did my best!

Here's what I used for this card:
Cardstock - PaperZone Gold Fleck
DSP - Doodlebug Designs (sorry...the paper pad cover with the name is missing)
Stamps - Sunny Studio Pretty Pumpkins; Catherine Pooler SOA Leaf Motifs (sentiment)
Dies - My Favorite Things, Sunny Studio
Inks - Catherine Pooler Inks, VersaFine Sepia
Other - Clear EP

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful Fall weekend!

Big Hug

Hi there!  A pretty quick card today before the week gets away from me...like it seems to do lately!  I'm playing along over at CASology with a cue of BIG:

And what's better than a great BIG hug:

I had this negative die cut frame on my desk from another project so I started there and glued it to a Neenah Solar White card base.  There was another scrap of that Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid DSP in the bin too.  That scrap was die cut into HUG using Little B's Monogram dies.  I glued the plaid letters onto a couple of layers of white cardstock for more "bigness" and stamped the Stampabilities sentiment above.

Thanks for stopping by and BIG hugs to you!  Have a wonderful week!

I hope you had a great last weekend of the summer ~ thanks for stopping by!

The Paper Players #362: LeAnne's Clean & Simple Challenge

It's time for another fun challenge from The Paper Players!  This week, the lovely LeAnne is hosting a Clean & Simple challenge with a Harvest theme just in time for Fall:

I started by embossing a stitched rectangle die onto the Memory Box notecard for a bit of a frame.  The DSP came from the overflowing scrap bin.  The sentiment image is an old digi stamp I've had for quite a while from "From the Heart Stamps."  It was colored with Prismacolor pencils and then brushed with some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  I finished it off with a little May Arts twine.  And that's it...clean and simple!

Chocolate Frosting

Good morning!  Did you know yesterday was International Chocolate Day in the US?  Isn't every day Chocolate Day?  I have a friend that believes just that and it just so happens he has a birthday coming up.  What better way to celebrate than with chocolate frosting!

On a Neenah Solar White card base I did some diffused dry embossing with a cupcake EF (The Paper Studio) leaving a spot for the cupcake.  The cupcake (MFT) and sentiment (SSS) were stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed with clear EP.  The cupcake was colored with Copics and sprinkles added with a white gel pen.

I'd like to enter this card in a couple of challenges:

I hope you're having a great week!  Thanks so much for stopping by.

The Paper Players #361: Color Challenge from Jaydee

Welcome back friends!  It's Funday and time for another challenge over at The Paper Players hosted by the talented Jaydee!  She picked a beautiful color combo...take a look!

Aren't those gorgeous colors together?!  There's so many different themes that would work but I went with a Christmas card.  What?!  I usually don't start my Christmas cards until October but I'm actually feelin' pretty good that I've gotten a jump on it early!

Pink ornaments, green bough, and magical sentiment stamps are all from Sunny Studio's Holiday Style layering stamp set.  I topped the ornaments with silver glittery hangers and scattered some shiny silver stars from Stampin' Up.  I used a shimmer pen and silver Stickles on the bough too.  I did pop up a couple of the ornaments but it's still nice and flat for easy mailing and less postage :)

Have you seen the other DT's beautiful projects?  Many of us caught the same holiday spirit for this challenge...check them out!

Cards in Envy: Cheers to You!

Hi Cards in Envy friends and Happy Labor Day!  Hopefully you're enjoying the weekend before school starts up and the lazy days of summer wind down!

Our Cards in Envy Challenge this time around is "Cheers to You!" and we're looking for Congratulations/Celebration type of cards.  The cards can be any size - just make sure they are flat enough to fit comfortably in an envy.

My card today is for an anniversary couple that love a good glass of wine:

It's a one layer card using heavy Bristol cardstock.  The "celebrate" sentiment was die cut from black glitter cardstock and plain black cardstock, layered up for a little dimension.  The wine bottle and glass are layering watercolor stamps from Rubbernecker.  I love how the wine layer splashes all over the place...as long as it's not on the carpet, that is!

We hope you'll play along and help us celebrate during this challenge.  Thanks for stopping by and Cheers to You!

My Little Square of Sand

Happy Labor Day!  Today I have a card for a couple of challenges:

CASology #264 - Square

Shopping Our Stash:  Your Favorite Season (Summer)

Around here, we call our beach properties "Our Little Squares of Sand."  So, I thought I would make a sand square!  I found some textured Krylon paint in the garage called Pebbles that looks just like sand!  So I sprayed a piece of cardstock and hoped for the best.  Success!  It's hard to tell in the photo but it is very grainy and textured, looking just like the beach during my favorite season, summer.

The sand dollar is a Sizzix die cut, distressed with some Pumice Stone ink.  I popped it up on "the beach" and added Nuvo clear Crystal Drops for water droplets.  The sentiment is from Gina K.'s Tiny Textures set.

Thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you're having a wonderful, long weekend!

The Paper Players #360: Back-to-School Theme

Welcome back to The Paper Players!  This week is hosted by Claire with a very appropriate theme for this time of year:  Back-to-School!

I looked forward to back-to-school time when my son was growing up.  I couldn't wait to go clothes shopping and, oh, the school supplies!  That must have been the crafty side of me. He didn't enjoy the shopping so much though.

My card is for my DGS who will be starting 2nd grade this year.  He loves school and I'm looking forward to once again making lunchbox notes for a special surprise during his day.

For my card, I dug out an old DCWV paper pack called "Grade School" for the DSP and used MFT Stitched Borders to create the layout.  The sentiment on the MFT Stitched Circles is from SSS Lunchbox Notes.  I finished it off with cute pencil and crayon die cuts from Paper Smooches' School Icons set.

We hope you'll play along this week and show your school spirit, appreciation for a special teacher, or any other back-to-school occasion you'd like to celebrate.  Check out the rest of the DT's blogs for some awesome inspiration too:
