Merry!

The Paper Players Challenge #271 is a CAS Christmas Card theme:

I was playing with some gold acrylic paint and making backgrounds.  Most of them are resting up in the "hospital" to be fixed later.  I liked the streaky background I ended up with on this one so I decided to use it :-)

The Christmas tree is a Heidi Grace acetate die cut with a little bit of transparency.  The "merry" die cut is from Memory Box and the star is a Fiskars punch.  Both are cut from a piece of gold mirror cardstock I picked up at Dollar Tree...Yes!  Dollar Tree...for $1.00...a package of 5 pieces.  Happy Dance!!

Eat More Ham!

The turkey is runnin' for his life in this Thanksgiving card.  He's one of my favorites from Doodle Pantry in the "Eat More Ham" set.  I think this is my last Thanksgiving card for the year or I'll never get them in the mail on time!

The DSP is from Doodlebug Designs "Fall Friends" which is now almost gone :-(.  I added some burlap ribbon and twine on the felt flowers.  I used the current sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches #327, and just flipped the top two panels.

Cards in Envy "Layers" Challenge

Hello CIE fans and welcome back for another fun challenge!  This time we're looking for A2 cards, flat enough to mail, featuring "Layers."  You can interpret this theme a number of different ways, using paper layers or even clothing layers.  I used From The Heart Stamps' darling Birdbrain Winter Scarf, layered around his neck. The image was colored with Copics and a few funky sequins added with seed bead centers.  The sentiment is also from the same set.  If I could knit, this is probably exactly what my scarf would look like!

Happy "Golden" Holidays

Last post for today...I promise!  The way my crazy schedule has been, it seems that I'm doing all my postings on Thursday for the week.  Whew!

I put together this card while on a metallic craze and although snowflakes are not gold, they look pretty elegant, don't they?  I cut the banner by hand so please don't look too closely :-)

 

 

The layout is based on The Crooked Stamper's Sketch Challenge #10 and I'm actually going to enter this on time...woo hoo!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Stickles and Stencils...who knew!  When shopping my stash, I found two bottles of Icicle Stickles.  Could I have bought a duplicate?  It happens :-)  Anyway, I had this great snowfall stencil from last year that I don't remember using and, along with the Stickles, created a pretty cool background!

The street lamp is a Memory Box die and I die cut it in black cardstock and again on a gold cardstock scrap so I could inlay the "glow."  The holly leaves and ribbon are Savvy Stamp dies and the snowy hillsides were die cut with Stitched Hillside Borders from Lawn Fawn.  There is stitching there...under the Stickle snow :-)  The sentiment is from The Stamps of Life's "snowman2build" stamp set.

grat·i·tude: a feeling of thanks or appreciation

Welcome to the big Gelli Print Fail!  I was left with a background paper that was "supposed" to have stenciled trees on it!  I did like the colors so...waste not, want not :-)

 

I attempted to go with a rustic, masculine feel for a Thanksgiving card.  I ripped out a page from a very old dictionary, added some die cut burlap leaves colored with StazOn inks, randomly wrapped twine dyed with alcohol inks in a Ziplock bag, and tacked it down with a long forgotten about Tim Holtz metal charm in my stash.  Some distressing of the edges and splattering of copper ink finished off this card.

A Season of Gratitude

Welcome CIE friends!  It's time for another fun challenge over at Cards in Envy!  The theme is GRATITUDE and perfect for those Thanksgiving cards.  Make an A2 card, flat enough for mailing, that expresses your thanks or gratitude.

Here's my card for a little inspiration:

The DSP for this card is from one of my favorite fall paper pads - Fall Friends by Doodlebug Designs.  It's hard to see in the pic but I embossed the first layer of DSP with a quilted Embossing Folder from We R Memory Keepers.  It has great texture and gives the card a cozier feel :-)  Oh, and the acorn and gold thread...well they are covering up an ink smudge!  There...I confessed!

W2SB #23: Changing the Face of Men's Health

It's MOVEMBER and time for another Words 2 Scrap By Challenge!  Movember is the theme for November with the focus on men's health.  You'll see a lot of hairy men during the month as they grow their moustaches in support of this all important cause.  You'll also hear about stressing the importance of MOVING to support this health initiative, so for my simple I-Teamer card I went with that theme:

 

Bike riding is something I enjoy with friends and is a wonderful exercise to get my behind outside in the fresh air!  We hope you'll join in the fun at W2SB to support the men in your life.  Use your imagination ~ we can't wait to see what "moves" you!
