The thing I absolutely love about Shopping Our Stash challenges is that it causes you to actually look through your stash and then be super excited when you find something you had NEVER used but had to have!  That was again the case for this week's challenge:  SOS #203: Play Misty For Me.    The challenge was to use a mist or spray product of some kind.

Imagine my delight when I moved things around on a shelf and, ta da, there was this gorgeous bottle of Perfect Pearls Bronze Mist!  I was on my way and this card happened...

Stuff I used:  Ivory Card Base, Gold and Bronze Glitter Cardstock, Perfect Pearls Bronze Mist,

Sizzix Adhesive Sheets, Memory Box Star Flourish die (cut into pieces), MFT Stacking Stars Die,

The Paper Players Challenge #246

Hi All!  This short week has put me behind with challenges and everything else!  I was able to put together a card for The Paper Players Challenge #246 which is a sketch challenge:

 

 

And...I didn't change a thing...no flipping, rotating, etc.  I thought this sketch was perfect for this birthday stamp that has been sitting on my desk for a long time!  Now that I've used it, I have to say I love it!  It's a sketchy stamp (I mean that in a good way) and is pretty forgiving when it comes to trying to color it while a fur kid is poking me in the elbow to go for a walk. 

 



All of the cardstock and DP was from my scrap basket.  The sentiment (PrintWorks) was colored with Copics and outlined with a black Spica pen.  The result is a glittery outline...you'll have to trust me here.  The Double Dot Border Die is from MFT and the enamel dots are Recollections.

Operation Write Home Finishing Strong Bloghop with W2SB

Operation Write Home, a charity that has supported heroes with handmade cards since 2007, will be closing later this year. Cards in Envy Challenge: Hey Dude!

What a perfect time for a dude card with Father's Day coming up!  The new Cards in Envy Challenge is focusing on the men in our lives and we'd love to see those masculine A2 cards!

 

This was a fun card to put together and it's flat as a pancake :-)  I used the Triangle cover-up die from MFT and die cut it once in white and again in red.  I layered the white background over black cardstock and inlaid the red triangles from the other die cut.  The "You" die is from Lawn Fawn and the sentiment was from Avery Elle's "Simply Said" stamp set.  This will be my son's Father's Day card because he IS amazing!

PP244: Color Challenge

The more I played with the colors in The Paper Players Challenge #244, the more I loved them!  I also have to say the cards from the DT are absolutely beautiful this week and you really should check them out.  I plan on CASE'ing  many of them :-)

I went with the closest cardstock I had on hand and a birthday theme using the cupcake stamp & die set from The Stamps of Life.  The sentiment (PrintWorks) was stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  The cupcake embossed background is an EF from The Paper Studio.  The sprinkles and larger dots were circles punched out of scraps, colored with clear Wink of Stella, then coated with Glossy Accents.  They look like enamel dots but not as pricey!

TMS #300: This little piggy...

I'm playing along with Tuesday Morning Sketches today for their 300th sketch!  Congratulations TMS! 

I flipped the sketch upside down and used this little piggy stamp & die set from The Stamps of Life.  I love the sentiment that comes with it.  I think a great guy card would be this sentiment on a motorcycle image!

SOS #201: Oldest Washi Tape

My card for this post is being linked up to Shopping Our Stash Challenge #201.  The challenge is to use your oldest washi tape.  I think this is my oldest tape - a couple of the first rolls I ever purchased from my LSS:

I remember being drawn to the colors because they reminded me of the beach but this is actually the first time I used them!  The other thing that reminds me of the beach is flip flops - or hip flops as I like to call them!  After wearing heels for soooo many years, I'm lovin' the hip flops :-)

I covered a square of white card stock with alternating stripes of the washi and then die cut flip flops (Stamps of Life) out of the square as well as white Crafty Foam for the soles.  I added a swipe of kraft ink (MFT) to ground them in the sand (pun intended).  The layer was then mounted on Peach Bellini cardstock from MFT.  The sentiment was computer generated.

OWH Sketch #254

It's only been about a week since I've posted anything but it feels like a lot longer!  Life is getting in the way of craft time but I was able to put together a simple card today for Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #254:

I had picked up a new Lawn Fawn stamp set called "Stuck On You" at my LSS and decided to ink that up.  It has cute cacti images and a couple of sweet sentiments.  The DP is from the scrap bin (DCWV, I think) and I added a little faux stitching with a Signo white pen.

Cards in Envy: When Nature Calls

Happy Monday and time for a new challenge over at Cards in Envy!  The theme this time is "When Nature Calls" and your A2 (no lumps or bumps) card should feature something found in nature.  I went with a bug theme because what would nature be without bugs?

 

 

If anyone can have a favorite bug, I think mine is ladybugs.  Short story:  Years ago I had a beautiful rose garden that became infested with aphids.  My husband went out and bought a bag of ladybugs...who knew?  Anyway, 150 ladybugs were going to save the day and eat all of the aphids per the nursery expert.  We released them in the backyard and they promptly ALL flew over the neighbor's yard and stayed there.  Did you know that ladybugs do NOT come when called?

 

Anyway, my card uses cute buggy DP (The Paper Studio), scalloped dies (My Favorite Things), and stamps, sentiment, and dies from The Stamps of Life.  Add a few hearts and googly eyes and you have a ladybug hug ready to be sent to someone special.

W2SB Challenge #17: Say Cheese!

Happy May Day and welcome to another fun challenge over at Words 2 Scrap By!  The theme this month is "Say Cheese" inspired by National Photograph Month.  Pictures stimulate memories of important events in our life and we'd love to see how you interpret this challenge.

My I-Team card came about because my Dad is soon turning 93 and I just finished scanning a number of old photographs for digital copies.  One of my favorites was my Dad sitting on the running board of their old car in front of their farmhouse in North Dakota.  He's the little guy on the left, my Grandfather in the middle, and my Aunt Anne (whom I was named after) on the right. 

This photo was so old that I went for a vintage look with Tim Holtz stencils, Distress Inks, and various metal embellishments.  The sentiment is from The Stamps of Life and I thought it was appropriate.  The picture was taken during the Depression-era and my paternal Grandmother had just passed away giving birth to my Dad's brother.  The baby was put up for adoption and my Dad never knew he had a brother until he was in his 60's.  Come to find out he grew up with him, they went to the same school, and were neighbors.  Quite a story, huh?
