Have a Sweet Christmas!

My sponsorship card is using those wacky Doodle Pantry Ants from the Gingerbread House Ants digital image that was released earlier this month.  I sprinkled glitter on the candies and also used Liquid Applique for the frosting.  Looks good enough to eat, don't you think?

Wintery Thanks

The Paper Players inspired me with a Clean & Simple Thank You Challenge (#222) this week. 

I always try to send thank you cards after the Christmas holiday, so I used this challenge for mojo :-)

It's a single layer card that I masked off with painters' tape.  I stamped various snowflakes (Lawn Fawn) in Broken China Distress Ink, then I sponged the same ink color all over.  The delicate snowflakes were die cut (Memory Box) out of black cardstock and a little blue bling added to the centers.  The sentiment (Inkadinkado) was stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black and clear heat embossed.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by ~ have a great weekend!

Another great challenge this week from Tuesday Morning Sketches #276:

I needed to finish up my Thanksgiving cards and get them in the mail, so I went with that theme today.  I also wanted to play with some joint compound that I was told worked as well as embossing paste and since there was some in the garage...I went for it!  I mixed in some metallic Perfect Pearls and water to thin it a bit and add color.  I was pleasantly surprised!  What do you think?

Thanksgiving Blessings

The theme this week for Shopping Our Stash Challenge #178 is Thankful.  I went with a Thanksgiving theme card:

I started with a Sizzix embossing folder and mixed media cardstock.  Once embossed, I pulled out my gelatos which I have totally ignored for a very long time!  I spread various gelato colors on the embossed image, spritzed with water, then just moved the color around with my finger...messy fun.  I stamped the sentiment (Printworks Collection) in Colorbox Chocolate ink and clear heat embossed.  I had to place the project under a heavy box overnight after it dried as there was quite a bit of "warping."  It worked beautifully and I mounted the embossed layer onto Memory Box Jack O Lantern cardstock with foam tape.  Thanks so much for taking the time to visit!

CIE Challenge: THANKful for You!

It's time for a new challenge over at Cards in Envy!  With Thanksgiving rapidly (and I mean rapidly...eek!) approaching, our theme is to create an A2, relatively flat THANK YOU card. 

I wanted the sentiment to be the focal point so I kept my card pretty simple.  The wreath was put together with leaves punched from an EK Success border punch and individually attached with Tombow Mono Glue.  I added some hemp twine and colored clear rhinestones with Copics for berry accents.

Lovin' from the Oven

Shopping our Stash #177 theme this week is NOT Ready for Christmas!  The challenge is to use a holiday stamp and make a non-Christmas card.  It was fun to go through the Christmas stamps I have and I like the idea of getting a bit more use out of them :-)

I selected my gingerbread boy and girl stamps from Impress and decided to make a 'love' card. 

Using a Kraft cardstock base, I layered DP from The Paper Studio.  The dies are Mama Elephant's Creative Cuts.  I stamped the boy and girl in Colorbox Chocolate ink and fussy cut them out.  The sentiment is from Avery Elle's "Love Notes" stamp set.  This card made me hungry...LOL!  Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I think I'm going to bake something now!

Thanksgiving Blessings

Tuesday Morning Sketches #275 has a twist this week:  Pumpkins & Leaves. I really like this sketch and can see myself using it over and over!

 

For this card, I used DP from Doodlebug Design called "Friendly Forest."  The "Angelica's Giant Pumpkin" darling digital image is from Inky Impressions.  I colored her up with Derwent Coloursoft Pencils and sprayed the image with sealer to preserve the colors.  The sentiment was stamped with Colorbox Chocolate ink and heat embossed.  The ribbon is from my scrap jar and the enamel accents from Doodlebug Design. Thanks so much for visiting today...hope your week is going well!  

Sending Christmas Cheer

It's challenge posting day for me and this one is for The Paper Players Challenge #221:

 

 

 

It's a color challenge and I could sure use these cozy clothes today...it's very cold!  For my card, I first made the background paper using ivory cardstock,  a polka dot stencil, and distress inks (Mowed Lawn & Fired Brick).  The other DP layers are from Bo Bunny's "Elf Magic."  I die cut the poinsettia and leaves (MFT) and the felt doily and curled the petals with my piercing tool.  A white enamel dot was covered with gold glitter for the center.  The sentiment is also from MFT.  Thanks so much for stopping by...stay warm!

Merry & Bright

This is my last post of the day...I promise :-)   A friend told me about The Mixed Media Card Challenge so I thought I would give it a whirl with this card.  It gave me permission to be messy and play with some products I had not used yet!

For my non-traditional Christmas card, I used mixed media paper for the background.  I mixed Perfect Pearls with my Koi watercolors for a pearlized, watercolor background.  Once dry, I grabbed my Dotted Tree stencil (Hero Arts) and used Dreamweaver Glossy White Embossing Paste.  While it was still wet, I sprinkled very fine Fairy Dust Glitter (Donna Salazar) on the embossing paste.  The "Merry & Bright" die cuts (Sizzix) were added once everything had dried.

Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge for Operation Write Home is to create a card with Hearts.  ODBD donates to OWH for shipping based on the number of entries:  one box for 25 cards and two boxes for 50.

Happy Dance

I made this card for the Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge, #274.

This penquin doing the happy dance is a new one from Great Impressions.  I colored with Copics and added some die cut little holly leaves from Savvy.  The "joy" die is from Lawn Fawn which I cut twice in green and red and layered them slightly off center to create a bit of a shadow.  The DP is from one of my favorite Doodlebug Designs 6x6 pad called "Home for the Holidays." 

Give Thanks

The Shopping Our Stash #176 theme this week is "Leaf Me Alone!"  I'm in Thanksgiving card mode, so I used the Poppystamps "Leaf Silhouette" die and inlaid the leaves with gold specialty paper for a CAS design.  A little bit of brown & gold bling and done!  (Sorry for the bad photo - it's really dark & gray here today!)  Thanks so much for stopping by :-)

 

Antique Desk - PP220

Whew!  I finally have time to catch up on posting.  My first post today is for The Paper Players Challenge #220.  This time it is a theme challenge!  This is only my second time playing but I really like how the PP team mixes it up with different types of challenges.

 

 

For my card, I used the desk image, DP, and sentiment from Doodle Pantry's "Antique Desk" that was released this past September.  I hadn't had a chance to use this one yet!  I layered torn handmade paper to the card base. The vintage ink bottle stamp (a dollar bin find) was fussy cut with a feather die from My Favorite Things, then stuck in the inkwell.  Lastly, you can't have a bottle of ink without ink splats so I added a few with black ink and a stamp from Neat & Tangled.  I left this card flat enough for Operation Write Home...they still need "thinking of you" cards.  Thanks so much for stopping by ~ have a terrific weekend!

Another Doodle Pantry New Release: Let it Snow!

Hello!  Today is new release day for Doodle Pantry and these new images will definitely put a smile on your face!  My second sample card for today is using "Snow Globe Gala" and I had soooo much fun playing with this set.  I merged the previously released playful "Snowman Pile-up" with the snowglobe for a sparkly snow scene on this 5 x 5 card.  Think of the possibilities with this set...endless!

Doodle Pantry New Release: Totally Cool!

Good morning!  Doodle Pantry has done it again and is releasing really fun and versatile images for November.  My first card for today is using images from a couple of them:  "Zoo Critters 1" and "Yummy Cupcake."  I also added some hats and scarves and a sentiment from two older sets called "Winter Accessories" and "Winter Birthday."

W2SB Challenge #11 - Gratitude & Kindness

Happy November 1st!  It's time for another inspirational challenge from Words 2 Scrap By and this month we are celebrating gratitude and kindness.  For my card, I decided to try a bunch of different techniques to mix things up a bit - literally!

First I wanted to make my own background paper.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor paper, three different stamps, and heat embossed the images.  Then I added Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Forest Moss & Vintage Photo on the background, spritzed some water, and let it dry.  (That was the hard part :-).  I added a "thanks" die cut from My Favorite Things, using Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE) on the die cut for serious shine and dimension.  I die cut the sweet "Reed Bird" from Memory Box holding a punched maple leaf to match the birds in the background.  Lastly, I needed ribbon to match the cardstock so I made my own, adding dye ink to a plastic bag and swishing around some white seam binding.  When it was the color I wanted, I spread it out to dry.  This card was a lot of fun but took patience.  I really have a hard time waiting for things to dry!
