The Paper Players #462: Joanne's Theme Challenge

Hi Friends! Joanne's Grateful/Thankful Challenge over at The Paper Players this week meant it was time to take a break from Halloween cards and play in the leaves! 

I had my mind on raking leaves when I made this one.  I spent a few hours doing that this weekend and then...Monday came, the rains came, and boy did the wind show up too.  It didn't look like I had cleaned up anything!  Oh well, I know these leaves aren't going to blow away:

I don't usually do too many scene cards but the tractor and trailer were screaming at me for one.  I randomly blended a sky, added a grassy hill, and a die cut tree (Lawn Fawn) from woodgrain cardstock.  The little leaves were also part of the Lawn Fawn set that I die cut out of scrap cardstock to fill the trailer.  I just love this tractor and trailer from Catherine Pooler's latest Christmas release (Christmas Tree Farm stamps & dies). I inked them up with CP inks and also used colored pencils for some of the details. The sentiment dies are from MFT and the sentiment is a very old wood-mounted one.

The Paper Players #448: Joanne's Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Yay for a 5th week over at The Paper Players!  It means its a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge which I think are so much fun!

I went with the diagonal for this card: Die-cut, Yellow, & Florals.

The 'Mondo Sakura' (Ellen Hutson) was gold heat embossed and watercolored with Zig Clean Color markers.  The deckled rectangle (Honey Bee) was misted with yellow Distress Ink and layered on a Mango (Memory Box) card base. Some gold glittery leaves (Catherine Pooler Die) were added under the popped up Sakura floral cluster.  The card was finished off with a popped up gold heat embossed banner sentiment (Concord & 9th). I really like gold embossing...should do it more often!

Distressed Weekend

Hi there! I played with Distress inks this past weekend making backgrounds and also created a few cards to play along with some of my favorite challenges. There are three cards so I'll keep the descriptions short 😉 

The first card is for CASology #346:

The cue is "Ring" and I thought of Life Rings. Down at the beach, a lot of neighbors use them for outside decor but we all know how important they are!

The life ring was created with MFT's Donut die, masked off, and blended with DI Carved Pumpkin. I added the hemp rope and popped it up over a masked MFT Wave background. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's 'Float My Boat' stamp set. 

The second card was for Seize the Birthday's latest Anything Goes challenge with the Topping of "Cover the Card". 

I used a number of blue/green Distress Ink Cubes DTP (direct to paper) and swiped my background on Neenah Solar White cardstock.

Then I added Tim Holtz' Wildflower Stem die cuts in white cardstock and a heat embossed birthday sentiment from The Stamps of Life.  The card base is SU's Shaded Spruce cardstock.

My last card was for The Paper Players #447 - A Sketch Challenge from Jaydee.  I like this sketch...very clean!

More distressing on this one! The Mermaid Tail (Ellen Hutson) was embossed and blended. I added some Pixie Dust for sparkle - I wish the pic showed that.  The distressed blue cardstock layer was clear heat embossed with the same 'Bubbles' background stamp (Hero Arts) as the card base. I die cut some grass (Memory Box) and popped up the tail.  The heat embossed sentiment is from the same Mermaid Tail stamp set.

CAS(e) This Sketch #325

Hi there! What a great sketch this week over at CAS(e) this Sketch!  The six elements could be a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g and used for any theme:

I went with glasses for a recent visitor:

The Impression Obsession glasses were die cut twice in black cardstock and once in blue vellum.  The MFT sentiment was white heat embossed and die cut with a MFT sentiment strip die.  After the glasses and sentiment were added to the card base, I inlaid the blue vellum into the frames of the glasses and added Nuvo Gloss Glitter for some sparkle and shine.

Freshly Made Sketches #391

Lucky me! I was able to make a couple of cards today 😁.  I wanted to play along over at Freshly Made Sketches with this sketch by Amy:

I set up the stamps in the Misti and stamped the images with orange ink on white cardstock and again on the orange card base.  I trimmed the white 'spotlight' piece and added the black/white DSP layer before mounting on the card base.  The sentiment was white heat embossed and die cut.  I liked this sketch and it made for an easy peasy thank you card!

Freshly Made Sketches #388

Welcome back! Here's the second card for the day using the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as a jumping off point:

I hope I didn't "jump" too far off the sketch. I stamped the center layer with Catherine Pooler's inks and border stamp.  I added the parrot and tropical leaves from Altenew's 'Parrot Paradise' and some fun sequins from Neat & Tangled.

The Paper Players #433: CAS Challenge from Jaydee

Hi all! Can I just say that today was a beautiful sunny day? I think the snow and cold are making room for Spring to take over. At least I hope so! I made a quick CAS card for the latest Paper Players challenge:

The challenge is to make a CAS One Layer Wonder card. I made this one as a thank you using Catherine Pooler's 'Best in You' stamp set (love the funky flowers), CP Inks, and Ellen Hutson's 'Totally Random Sayings' for the sentiment.  The card base is Neenah Solar White. Sometimes simple CAS cards that are just stamped directly on the card base take me 2 or 3 tries...this one was the first try and I still can't believe it!

The Paper Players #432: Claire's Color Challenge

Who doesn't love a rainbow! I'm playing along over at The Paper Players this week where the lovely Claire has a rainbow color challenge:

I was recently playing with my alcohol inks and made a bunch of rainbow colored backgrounds. Jennifer McGuire had published a YouTube video a little while back so I gave her technique a try and ended up with 10 backgrounds!  If you give it a try, be careful...it's addictive!

I used one of the rainbow backgrounds to die cut the MFT Stripes Cover-Up and also die cut some white cardstock so I could inlay the white strips into the rainbow frame/cover-up.

I then added the WOW die cut and embossed sentiment (MFT) and finished it off with SU Clear Glitter Epoxy Shapes. I kept it pretty simple so the rainbow was the star of the show!

Back again with the third and final card I made yesterday during the downpour! I really wanted to play along over at Freshly Made Sketches since it had also been a while:

MFT Jumbo Abstract Art was used for the watercolor stripes with Distress Ink on a stitched rectangle. I had this SU Petal Palette die cut on my desk, all colored up and waiting for a project. I popped it up and added a sentiment from Altenew's 'You Are' stamp set.  Finished the card off with some Wink of Stella and Pretty Pink Posh Confetti.

The Paper Players #395: A Sketch Challenge from LeAnne

Hi Paper Players!  The lovely LeAnne is hosting our Challenge this week and it's a wonderful sketch:

It's such a great sketch, this card came together pretty quickly.  The watercolored Poppies are from Rubbernecker that I colored with Zig Clean Color Markers and a water brush.  The background was stamped using Concord & 9th's Sketched Stripes and Catherine Pooler's Inks in Tiara and Party Dress.  The sentiment was from Concord & 9th, heat embossed.  I added a snippet of polka dot ribbon from my stash.  I was going to splatter but I'd already attached the florals to my card and I knew that would NOT be a good idea!

Tic Tac Toe Challenge #044

The Paper Players #382: A Sketch Challenge from Sandy

Welcome back, PP Friends!  The oh-so-talented Sandy is our hostess this week for our monthly Sketch Challenge and it's a good one!

I tried the spotlight technique for my card this week:

First I stamped the MFT Floral Fantasy background stamp on Neenah Solar White cardstock.  Next I die cut the center for the focal point in the sketch.  I colored the die cut with Prismacolor pencils.  I added the black embossed strip and then popped up the "spotlight" with black fun foam. The sentiment (Wplus9) was white heat embossed on another piece of black cardstock.  I also used Wink of Stella on the colored focal point. It's pretty shimmery IRL!

Happy Sunday!  A quick card to play along over at Shopping Our Stash where they are getting sentimental and looking for sentiments to be the focal point.

On a Neenah Solar White card base I layered some grid paper that I stamped with an old great BIG wooden background stamp from Impress.  The sentiment from Concord & 9th was heat embossed with Ranger white detail EP.  I added a little binder clip (also Concord & 9th) and tied with black/white baker's twine.  I was going for a masculine thank you card so I hope he doesn't mind the twine bow too much!

CASology: Foliage

Hello again!  I was able to play in a couple of challenges today and the sun came out...a good day! My first card is for the latest challenge over at CASology:

I like ferns.  I really like ferns in my yard because the deer do not eat them!  For my card, I used a fern image and sentiment from Wplus9, stamped in Catherine Pooler's Aquatini ink after I had stamped a shadow image in SSS Fog. I also used a white gel pen for little "spores."
