A Break from Summer Outdoor Projects!

Hi friends! It's been a busy few weeks. Beautiful weather and lots of company and many outdoor projects but today I was anxious to get in the craft room and play along with a couple of challenges!

The first card is for The Paper Players Theme Challenge hosted by the lovely Claire:

AND to help celebrate Freshly Made Sketches 400th Challenge, I used their sketch that was the very first sketch when the challenge launched 8 years ago. Congratulations!!

I made a school-themed card for my DGS who will be in 4th Grade this year...I can't believe it! I've had this DCWV 'Grade School' paper pad forever that is my go to for school cards.  I white heat embossed the sentiment on a die cut apple (Stamps of Life) and added some VersaMark background dots with a pencil eraser. All were layered on a Hero Arts Black Notecard.

The second card is for the Seize the Birthday AG Challenge with a topping of Flowers:

I watercolored this floral arrangement from Concord & 9th with Zig Clean Color Markers. The MFT Pinstripe background was stamped on a white card base with Catherine Pooler 'It's a Girl' pink ink.  I used a sentiment from MFT's June or July 2016 card kit, white heat embossed on black cardstock, and cut it up and popped it up to work with the 'Wonderful' sentiment.  Nuvo Purple Rain Glitter Drops were added for a little bling to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're having an amazing summer!

Hugs,
Annie

The Paper Players #360: Back-to-School Theme

Welcome back to The Paper Players!  This week is hosted by Claire with a very appropriate theme for this time of year:  Back-to-School!

I looked forward to back-to-school time when my son was growing up.  I couldn't wait to go clothes shopping and, oh, the school supplies!  That must have been the crafty side of me. He didn't enjoy the shopping so much though.

My card is for my DGS who will be starting 2nd grade this year.  He loves school and I'm looking forward to once again making lunchbox notes for a special surprise during his day.

For my card, I dug out an old DCWV paper pack called "Grade School" for the DSP and used MFT Stitched Borders to create the layout.  The sentiment on the MFT Stitched Circles is from SSS Lunchbox Notes.  I finished it off with cute pencil and crayon die cuts from Paper Smooches' School Icons set.

We hope you'll play along this week and show your school spirit, appreciation for a special teacher, or any other back-to-school occasion you'd like to celebrate.  Check out the rest of the DT's blogs for some awesome inspiration too:

For My Teacher

Tuesday Morning Sketches #266 was used for this card.  The challenge also has a twist (optional) for "Back to School."  I still have quite a bit of paper left in my DCWV "Grade School" paper pad plus my grandson started school this year.  He's so cute with his Ninja Turtle backpack and lunchbox :-)

For my card, I used an image from Doodle Pantry's "Books & Apple" set (which happens to be FREE with purchase).  The sentiment is from another cute school-themed set called "Book Ants."  I colored the image with Copics and added an A+ chalkboard tag to the bow.

Here's the Sketch:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you're having a great week!

I'd like to also enter this card in the The Paper Girls Challenge #63 - Back to School
