Watercoloring Fun!

Happy Weekend!  I can't believe it's the end of January!  I've spent the past couple of days playing with some new stamps from Rubbernecker.  I think I need an intervention.  I am rapidly becoming addicted to their watercolor stamps!  I'm definitely not the best at coloring.  Copics sometimes scare me.   But...these stamps are so much fun and give you such a free watercolor look ~ and you can color outside the "lines" which makes me happy :).

My first card uses the "Tangerine Trio" stamp set.  I decided to stick with the color sample provided with the set and added a watercolor stripe background (MFT).  I used Distress Inks & water on watercolor cardstock for everything except the sentiment (Stampabilities) which I stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black.    Messy splatters and May Arts natural twine finished this off.  I'd like to link this up to the new Rubbernecker Challenge - Birthday that I just found today!

The second card also uses a Rubbernecker stamp called "Flowers in the Breeze."  I again used Distress Inks & water with an Ellen Hutson's "Many Thanks" word die by Julie.  I added some Nuvo Blue Lagoon Crystal Drops and Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Sparkle pen on the sentiment for a little shimmer.  I'll be linking this up to the Live Love Cards Community Challenge for January featuring cool colors.

Oh My Stars!

Hi again! This is the second card I made today before I actually had to get some work done 😉  I used the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as the jumping off point...and because I LOVE it!

I also would like to play along with Shopping Our Stash #287 - All that Glitters is Gold because I hit the scrap bin and found lots of different gold foil and glitter bits leftover from Christmas.  My DGS is doing sooo well in school, I thought he should get some gold stars from Grandma!

Finally, if I may, I'd like to also link up to the latest CASology challenge where the Cue is Glisten. I hope glistening gold stars fit the bill.

Oodles of Hearts

I was able to make a couple of cards today...yay!  It's always such good therapy on a dark, gray day! The Card Concept's latest challenge was perfect to play along with ~ check out the bright colors:

And here's my card with a Valentines theme:

I was inspired by the bright pink & orange, the black & white photographs, and the wonderful texture of the white bedspread.   The card base is Ellen Hutson's white woodgrain embossed cardstock to mimic the bedspread.  The Oodles of Hearts panel from Memory Box was die cut three times, once in white and then inlaid with DCWV bright pink and orange hearts from the 2nd and 3rd pass through the Big Shot.  I used a couple of different background stamps and white heat embossing on some of the hearts to give them a little interest like the pillow in the photo.  The sentiment is an oldie but goodie rubber stamp from Savvy.

I was happy with how this turned out.  Valentine hearts don't always have to be red, do they!  Thanks for stopping by ~ hope you're having a great week :)

Thorny Rose

Hello ~ thanks for stopping by!  My card today is for the latest Paper Players Challenge #328:

I've had the Thorny Rose stamp (Rubbernecker) in my stash for a while.  I had a lot of fun watercoloring the image with Distress Inks (on Distress WC cardstock), added the Freehand frame, some splatters & Doodlebug Sprinkles.  The sentiment is from WPlus9's Hand Lettered Thanks set.

Yay!  A second card for the day!  This one I put together for a dear friend and would also like to link up to the latest Paper Players Color Challenge #327:

I love, love, love black & white and when I can add my favorite color RED, it makes me happy!  I went for a pretty straight forward layered card this time with a happy background stamp:

CASology: Cut

Good morning!  I'd like to share a card to play along with CASology's latest challenge:

The CUT cue could mean many things.  I decided to go a little blingy and use the first of the 4 C's for diamonds.  The better the CUT, the more sparkle you will have!  And, they are, after all, a girl's best friend :)  

Sorry the pic is a little dark.  It's a very dark and rainy day here.  Using Neat & Tangled's Sparkle & Shine stamp set, I stamped 3 diamonds in SSS Fog ink.  I also stamped one in VersaMark, heat embossed with PK Glitz Silver EP (very sparkly), fussy cut, and popped it up on the center stamped diamond.  The sentiment is from the same Neat & Tangled stamp set.

Cards in Envy: Pink & Gray

Hello CIE fans!  The theme for the latest challenge is Pink & Gray.  Absolutely one of my favorite color combinations and can work for so many different occasions!  Create a card (any size) using Pink & Gray as the main color palette that is not too lumpy or bumpy to fit comfortably in an envy.

For my DT card, I went with a birthday card theme for my DIL.  I used the Winnie & Walter Harleen stencil, first inking it up with Simon Says Stamp Fog ink, then shifting the stencil over and inked it up again with Gina K. Bubblegum ink.  The Crazy Dog (aka "Gilda" in my house :) was colored with Zigs and a waterbrush on Bristol and fussy cut.  I added an oval die cut out of Lifestyle Crafts' Shape 'n Tape in silver and then popped up "Gilda."  I performed stamp surgery on the Avery Elle sentiment (Party Animal) so it would fit nicely onto the die cut MFT word bubble.  Lastly, for finishing touches, some Heidi Swapp glittery enamel dots were scattered, Glossy Accents shined up the eyeballs, and silver Stickles on the party hat finished this party animal.

Sound familiar?  Now I don't make resolutions, but I do like to change up things once in a while. Lately, I've been neglecting my beautiful stash of DP.  I decided for my I-Teamer card that I would use up some brightly colored scraps from one of my favorite Doodlebug Designs' 6x6 pad and focus on one of the five inspirational sayings I have posted in my craft room with a watercolored banner.

Cards in Envy: Snow Birds

Happy New Year!!  The first Cards in Envy Challenge of 2017 is here and the challenge is to create a card that has snow, snowflakes, or snowmen and includes at least one bird...thus, the theme Snow Birds :)  Cards should be flat enough to fit comfortably in an envy for mailing but can be ANY size.

For a little inspiration, my DT card is a single layer card using Neenah Solar White cardstock for the base.  I embossed the top half with a Darice snowflake embossing folder, then stamped the letters, snowman, and bird with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored the happy little guy and sweet bird with Copics.  For a finishing touch, I added some glittery Martha Stewart snowflakes I found in my stash and used Faber Castell Whipped Spackle for the snowy bank to ground the snowman and letters.  Snow much sparkle!
