The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #242

Yum!  I saw watermelon at the store the other day and it reminded me that I love this colorful, fruity time of year!  So for The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #242, I knew I had to see what those Doodle Pantry wacky ants were up to, and sure enough, they like watermelon too!

I flipped the sketch horizontally and used the DP and image from "Watermelon Ants."   The sentiment is an old rubber stamp (Hampton Arts, I think?).  All of the dies used are from My Favorite Things. 

 

Hmmm, might have to try some salt on my next piece of watermelon!  Thanks for stopping by! 

TMS #298

Hi All!  While I still had white cardstock all over my desk from my "White Out" card, I inked it up to play along with Tuesday Morning Sketches #298:

 

 

I just received a new background stamp yesterday from Simon Says called "Falling Hearts" and I knew I had to use it!  The heat embossed, die cut, and Distress watercolored heart is popped up, the sentiment is from Lawn Fawn "Scripty Sayings", and the banners were cut from Lawn Fawn's "Polka, Mon Amie" 6x6 paper pad.  I paper pierced and added some hand stitching at the top to fasten down the banners.

White Out!

Hi All!  I put together this card for the latest Shopping Our Stash Challenge #199 - Opposite Day.  The inspiration is to create something that's opposite your usual style. 

Well, this card was pretty "hairy" for me for two good reasons:

1)  I usually always use designer paper, especially bright colors, and I probably have enough to last several lifetimes.  Yes, I need a support group...

2)  When I photographed this "White Out" card and loaded the pic into my blog post (yesterday), I noticed several chocolate lab hairs sticking out of the die cut (thank you, Sadee :-)  When I dropped it on the floor, I should have tossed it and cut another...oh well...live and learn!  I've since trimmed the hairs and taken another picture. 

White is so unforgiving and difficult to photograph.  (Reason #3)?

The Paper Players #241: CAS Watercolor

Hi there!  Today I worked on a card for The Paper Players CAS Challenge:

I'm laughing because there was nothing clean about the process but it was sure fun.  I tried the monoprint technique with a stencil, distress inks, and water.  I tapped the stencil with three different distress colors, spritzed it with water, and then laid it down on a piece of watercolor paper.  I then dabbed off the excess with a towel and I really kind of like how it turned out!  I'm definitely going to play with other colors.

Cards in Envy Challenge: Pretty in Pink

Happy Monday and welcome to another fun challenge from Cards in Envy!  The new theme is "Pretty in Pink" and your A2 card should feature mostly pink colors and, of course, fit in an envy without big lumps and bumps :-)

I'm not usually a pastel girl, but I've been trying to be "softer" and I had found this delicious pink cardstock in my stash.  Using the stripe cover-up die from MFT, I die cut a white layer and a pink layer.  Covered the back with wide Scor-Tape, inlaid the pink cutouts in the white layer and mounted it on the same pink cardstock.  I used a Tim Holtz stencil and Delicata silver ink to create a small background and layered Sizzix Triplett Flowers, adding some silver thread and black/white polka dot leaves and sequin centers.  The sentiment is from The Stamps of Life.  So soft and girly!

A Couple of Cards

Happy Friday!  Today I'm posting a couple of cards for Operation Write Home.  The first one is for the Our Daily Bread Designs April Challenge to create a masculine card.  ODBD sponsors OWH card shipments based on the number of entries.  I'm also entering it into the Crooked Stamper Sketch Challenge #3:

 

The anchor die from Spellbinders Inspired collection had never been used (what a surprise :-).  I used silver metallic paper for the anchor and the sentiment (Lawn Fawn) was anchored with tiny staples.

 

The second card is using OWH Sketch #251:

 

I went with a generic love card, using yummy DP scraps.  The cardbase is TSOL Bubblegum and the die cut flower is from Sizzix' Flower Triplets.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #295

Allergies or a bad cold?  I'm not sure but it has sure put me out of action for a few days.  After the cold medicine kicked in, I decided to make a card for Tuesday Morning Sketches #295:

I usually do a little flipping with sketches but I decided to stay true this time.  The cold medicine makes me a little loopy so who knows what could happen!  My card is using an image from Doodle Pantry's "Little Lighthouse" set and a sentiment from Avery Elle.  I love the little heart at the top which I colored with Wink of Stella and covered with Glossy Accents.  The wave background is a Darice embossing folder and the oval die cuts are from MFT.

W2SB and SOS Challenge

Today at Words 2 Scrap By we are so excited to be partnering up with Shopping Our Stash and combining our April theme, "The earth has music for those that listen" with their weekly challenge.  SOS is one of my favorite challenges ~ they always have such fun themes!

For my card (and in the spirit of shopping my stash), I used a Penny Black Christmas stamp called Winters Edge.  Instead of snow, I used a long forgotten jar of Sweet Pea Petal Soft on the tree to give it a spring look.  The music background stamp is from My Favorite Things.

Cards in Envy: Child's Play...Dude!

Cards for kids!  One of my favorite things to do!  The new challenge from Cards in Envy is Child's Play.

This cute image is from Stampendous, colored in Copics.  The sentiment is Paper Smooches.  The DP is from DCWV and the various star brads are from my stash (Recollections, I think :-)  This one is going to my cutie pie grandson...the coolest little dude I know!

A Bunny Hello

Well...it's the last Easter card I'm making and I used this great sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches #294 to finish up.  I hope the cutest grandson in the whole world loves it!

I started with one of my favorite images from Doodle Pantry called "Big Hug Bunny" and colored it with Copics.  I replaced the scalloped edge on the sketch with MFT's negative dot dies, die cutting them in 5 different colors of cardstock scraps and inlaying the letters.  All of the DP and cardstock is from The Stamps of Life.  A little purple/white twine from the Twinery finished the card.

The Paper Players Challenge #238

Here I am again...right under the wire!  The Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge (#238) ends in a couple of hours! 

I'm entering a birthday card I made for a young neighbor girl this week using pink, sequins and ribbon.  Sorry the pic is a little "gray"...just like the sky here today!

AIMPDC #4: Anything Digital Goes

Happy April Fools Day and hopefully there aren't too many tricks today!  The latest Challenge from Doodle Pantry is no joke..AIMPDC #4 starts today and the theme is Anything Digital Goes!

My DT card is using Doodle Pantry's hungry Jelly Bean Ants.  Like those ants, I love jelly beans and understand they are low fat - LOL!  The ants image was merged with the coordinating DP.  I printed and fussy cut an extra jelly bean, then popped it up and added one of the included sentiments in a word bubble.  This turned out to be a very easy Easter Card, using another one of the sentiments and images inside (see below)!

W2SB Challenge #16: The Earth Has Music

Are you ready for another W2SB Challenge??  April's theme is "The Earth Has Music" and my I-Team card is in honor of all those birds chirping away in my backyard.  Ahhh...what's better in the morning than a cup of coffee (or two), a beautiful sunrise, and the birds starting the day with a song?

This card began with one of Tim Holtz' Bird Crazy stamps, stamped on Ranger Watercolor Paper.  I love their quirky look!  I watercolored the bird and background with Distress Inks (Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Seedless Preserves, Mowed Lawn, and Squeezed Lemonade).  I used a stencil and Pistachio Distress Ink to create a background on Lemonade cardstock (TSOL), die cut a square, and mounted that layer over the watercolor paper.  The sentiment (Momenta) is one of my all time favorites, stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed.  For the final touches, I added a musical vellum banner layered over DP and polka dot ribbon from my stash .
