I'm officially starting on my Christmas cards and loved The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #268:

And...here's my card:

It all started with a gorgeous sheet of DSP from My Mind's Eye.  I love the watercolor look of the poinsettias!  The card base is a yummy red from My Favorite Things called Poppy.  The circle die cut of the larger design is framed with the same poppy red and I added a distressed poinsettia and holly leaves.  The banner sentiment stamp is from The Stamps of Life with a little added gold bling from MME.  The middle strip was actually cut smaller so there was more happy red (my favorite color, BTW :)

I really like this layout and since I've put Halloween away, it's time to start thinking about Christmas cards.

Whew!  I finally made a deadline for The Paper Players!  I seem to be off my game a bit lately but was happy to be able to put together this card for the latest challenge - PP267.

 

 

 

 

A clean and simple Thanksgiving card with a leafy vine, stamped with Brilliance Cosmic Copper ink and heat embossed.  I die cut the stitched panel and layered it over the same cardstock for the card base which I also stamped hoping that the images would line up!  The finishing touch was adding some copper berries with Pico Embellisher.  I'm on a copper kick right now, no idea why, just lovin' the rich, rosy color.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a terrific weekend!

 



Hug in a Mug

Been up since 4 a.m. (thank you, puppies) so I had a chance to make a few cards this morning.  Since I'd already had three cups of coffee, I tackled the latest challenge from Shopping Our Stash #224: Caffeine Fix.  I wasn't shaking too bad yet!

The coffee cup was stamped, watercolored with Distress Inks, and fussy cut.  I then added the heat embossed sentiment which was a crazy thing to do after all that work, but it came out okay :-) I cut a slit in the top of the cup and added a transparent vellum flourish die cut for some steam.  The cup was then popped up over the coffee bean embossed strip and a little bit of May Arts twine.

This was the final card this morning and my workspace is now down to about 4" x 4".  Time to pick up...with a cup of coffee, of course!  Thanks for stopping by - here's the stuff I used on this card:

Cards in Envy: Trick or Treat!

The latest challenge over at Cards in Envy starts today and the theme is Trick or Treat!  Just in time for Halloween, create an A2 card that will fit in an envy and make us think of trick or treating. 

For a little inspiration, who could resist not handing over the entire trick or treat bowl to this cute mummy from My Favorite Things:

She's trick or treating against a star-filled Distress Ink sky with Halloween graffiti on the stamped and sanded brick wall (MFT).  I added an American Crafts pumpkin sticker colored with Copics to slip over her arms.  She needed something to carry her loot in!

And because I love Halloween AND candy, here's another card to help with your trick or treat mojo:

This was quick and easy, using The Stamps of Life candy corn stamp and die, Copics, and alphabet stamps traced with Black Wink of Stella.  The DSP, brads, ribbon and googly-eyed spider were from my Halloween goodies box (Recollections).

Let's Hang Out

Yep, it's another Halloween card and this time I used the same cute spider from Doodle Pantry to create a group of spidery friends.  The spider set is called "Spider Greetings" and you can check it out on the Doodle Pantry Shop HERE.

The spider web die is from Memory Box and cut out of really glittery black cardstock.  The sentiment is from the same Doodle Pantry set and popped up.  Finally I added some dots of black Pico Embellisher and Glossy Accents on their eyes.  I love their rosy cheeks ~ the ones around my house sure don't look like this!

I'd like to enter this card into the AIMPDC #10 over on the Doodle Pantry Blog.  Also, the Cards in Envy Challenge is still on with a Creepy Crawly theme.  We hope you'll come play with us!

Live Love Cards October Challenge: White Space

White space is good space, white space is good space...I'm trying this mantra but having started my cardmaking adventures with lots and lots of layers and embellies, it's a challenge.  This is a perfect challenge from Live Love Cards to play in since I need a support group to tell me to stop sometimes!

Tim Holtz' Carved Halloween pumpkin looked like he was rolling around so, after stamping in Memento ink, coloring with Copics and Wink of Stella, I sat him on some washi tape and added the "Let's Roll" sentiment.  Then I STOPPED.  Woo hoo!

Nine Little Cupcakes

Happy Friday!  Another post today for a card I made for Shopping Our Stash #222 - Birthday.  It's been a while since I have played and I've missed their fun themes.  The Birthday stash theme is to use something from your oldest birthday supplies.  Before Cuttlebugs and Big Shots, I accumulated some (maybe quite a few) punches.  One of the first punches I bought was a little cupcake.  It cuts the frosting and cupcake separately.  I guess whomever made the punch wishes to remain anonymous...no name to be found on the little guy!

I used the Case This Sketch Challenge for the layout thinking nine cupcakes are better than just one!  They might be taking up too much real estate for a CAS card but I thought they turned out cute :-)

Here's the card:

Nine punches to get the Kraft bases, three punches on pink CS, three on blue CS, and 3 on yellow, and you end up with nine cupcakes.  I used stickles for the sprinkles and an older birthday sentiment from Hero Arts.  Sorry the pic is a little dark...it's a very gray fall day here this morning.

Time for Witches' Brew!

Happy Friday!  I didn't think I'd make The Paper Players Challenge this week but I'm glad I did!  I love making Halloween cards and that just happens to be their theme this week:

My card started with a trip through a sale bin at my LSS a couple of months ago.  I found this great stamp set from Graphic 45 with vintage looking bottles.  I thought they would be great for a Halloween card, so here it goes:

I stamped the bottles on watercolor paper, used Distress Inks (Wilting Violet & Twisted Citron - perfect names for Halloween) to watercolor them, then fussy cut and popped them up on my scrap bin cardstock.  I did add Wink of Stella to the bottles, but alas, that never photographs well :-(.  Some rhinestone fumes colored with Copics, raggedly black twine, and a sentiment from Catslife Press finished it off.  The dies used were from Mama Elephant.

Cards in Envy: Creepy Crawlies

Hi CIE fans!  It's time for another fun Cards in Envy Challenge and this time we're looking for flat, A2 cards featuring "Creepy Crawlies."  (I love Sandy's themes :)   This is one of my favorite times of year to make cards (next to Christmas), so without further ado...here's my DT card:

 

 

Don't get me wrong - I don't l-o-v-e spiders!  In fact, I just had the outside of my house sprayed because I was tired of swinging a broom at all the webs!  For this card, I went with a "cool" spider from Doodle Pantry and added some shades.  The web is a Memory Box die cut and the heat embossed sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  The DSP is from a Recollections 6x6 pad called "Midnight Magic" that I picked up last year.

W2SB #22: Fight Like A Girl

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and W2SB wants to help spread the word. Create a project supporting awareness and our fight for a cure.  Or, create an encouraging  message for a friend or family member.  My card is in memory of my dear friend, Sandra.  She fought like a girl and those that loved her are continuing that fight.

I'd also like to send hugs to my fellow I-Teamer, Penny, and congratulate her on being a SURVIVOR!  She gives hope to others and I'm taking her suggestion to heart and making a few of the following card for others at my local Breast Cancer Center.  Again, very simple, but hopefully sending a strong message:

 

(I knew I could find a use for those big alpha stencils I had to have!)
