The Paper Players #409: A Color Challenge from Anne Marie

Gosh, we had so many cute lunchbox love notes last week and thanks to everyone who played along! This week over at The Paper Players it's our Color Challenge hosted by Anne Marie and she has come up with such a pretty color combo!

I thought these colors would make such an awesome plaid with Fall coming.

After I had stamped the plaid background (Concord & 9th) with Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron, and Crumb Cake, I die cut the sweater with MFT's Comfy Sweater dies. The sweater was popped up on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that was embossed with Ellen Hutson's Stitches Cover Plate.  The sentiment from MFT's Cozy Greetings was heat embossed with white EP on the Blackberry Bliss card base.  I think this could even be a fun Christmas card!

Check out the gorgeous projects from the rest of the DT ~ they're amazing!

And just a few rules:
  1. Create a new paper project.
  2. Upload your project to your blog with a link back to The Paper Players.
  3. Provide a direct link to your blog post for your challenge entry.
  4. Please link your card to no more than FOUR challenges (including ours).
  5. Have fun!

We can't wait to see what you come up with using Anne Marie's colors this week!

Hugs,
Annie

Dream BIG

Hi friends!  Today there is a very heavy marine layer so it's perfect for staying inside and playing along with CASology's latest challenge:

I knew I had a sleeping image somewhere and finally found it!  This is a very old bear stamp set from Fiskars, colored with Copics, and he's dreamin' of a big old jar of honey with a few tiny little bees hovering around.  The little grass sprouts are from another old stamp by Impress.   The inside sentiment simply says "Thinking of you."  I like it when I can pull out forgotten stamps and give them some love :-)

Thanks for stopping by today!  The marine layer is lifting here, the fog horns have stopped, and maybe, just maybe, my hair won't frizz - ha!  Have a great week!

Speedy Sandpipers

The Cue Card from CASology this week is "Fast."  I'm hoping that "speedy sandpipers" qualify!  I know they are pretty darn fast when the puppies take off after them at the beach!

I used one of my favorite stamps from Stampin' Up, stamping it twice on gray-toned sketch paper.  I added a little color and shading with Prismacolor gray and white pencils to keep a 'masculine' feel to the card.   The sentiment is also from the same "Wetlands" SU set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful Memorial Weekend!

SOS #182: Thrice as Nice

Did someone say scraps?!  My desk is covered with them and this is a great challenge to eliminate a few of them :-)

My card for the SOS #182: Thrice as Nice Challenge uses three patterned papers plus an ombre background originally from the My Mind's Eye "Flair" 6x6 pad.  They were scraps left over from a recent birthday card plus black cardstock scraps for the background layer.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!

Antique Desk - PP220

Whew!  I finally have time to catch up on posting.  My first post today is for The Paper Players Challenge #220.  This time it is a theme challenge!  This is only my second time playing but I really like how the PP team mixes it up with different types of challenges.

For my card, I used the desk image, DP, and sentiment from Doodle Pantry's "Antique Desk" that was released this past September.  I hadn't had a chance to use this one yet!  I layered torn handmade paper to the card base. The vintage ink bottle stamp (a dollar bin find) was fussy cut with a feather die from My Favorite Things, then stuck in the inkwell.  Lastly, you can't have a bottle of ink without ink splats so I added a few with black ink and a stamp from Neat & Tangled.  I left this card flat enough for Operation Write Home...they still need "thinking of you" cards.  Thanks so much for stopping by ~ have a terrific weekend!

OWH Sketch #215

Today's sketch on the Operation Write Home blog has lots of layers...and I do mean lots!  I love the look but it does take me a while to put one together.  I started with thoughts of Spring (11 days away) and opening season for baseball for a masculine card.  That one became an "oops" but I posted it below.  It's missing an entire layer!  The other card was on the feminine side with a watercolor background using Distress Inks, a little heat embossing for the flowers, "springy" papers, and a little cheater bow.  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!  I'm going to anxiously await my Die-Versions order after happily blog hopping this weekend :-)...wasn't that fun!?!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Punny Cards

Thank you, Allison, for selecting my card as the sample for this Throwdown!  I'm very flattered :-)

Card #1:  I wanted to play in this challenge because of a funny "punny" stamp set I received last month from the Stamps of Life that I hadn't a chance to ink up yet!  The stamp set also comes with dies if you're a Die Hard Club Member.  So much fun!

Supplies:  Pop Tones' Black Licorice Cardstock, DCWV Creamy Cardstock (red and yellow), Stamps of Life "popcorn2stamp" and "words4popcorn" Stamp Sets and Dies, ColorBox Licorice and Strawberry Ink, Ranger Mustard Seed Distress Ink, Red/White Ribbon Scrap.

Card #2:  Just scraps of paper on my table and a cute fish stamp from the $1 bin inspired this card.  I didn't have a sentiment stamp that I thought would go with the card, so I created one on the computer.

Supplies:  Bazzill Neptune Swiss Dots Cardstock, Neenah Solar White Cardstock, Stampabilities "Felipe Fish" Stamp, Copics, Spellbinders Scalloped Circle Dies, My Favorite Things Fishtail Banner Dies, and Cloud 9 Blue Rain Dots.

OWH Boot Camp - All Things Being Equal

I enjoyed this design lesson very much!  I might be a 75/25 gal - 75% of the cards I make are asymmetrical and the rest symmetrical. This lesson made me think about it!  With this card,  I was going for an asymmetrical look:

Supplies:  Neenah Solar White Cardstock, Pop Tones Licorice Cardstock, Paper Studio Lola & Luca DP, MFT Fishtail Flags die, Stampabilities sentiment, VersaFine Onyx Black ink, and ribbon/buttons from stash.

I thought I should push myself a bit :-) and try symmetrical so...here's the second card:

Supplies:  Neenah Solar White Cardstock, DCWV Creamy Cardstock stack, MME enamel dots, Sizzix Zig Zag Circle dies, Fiskar's circle punches, VersaFine Onyx Black ink, and sentiment stamp (manufacturer unknown).

Thanks for visiting and special THANKS to Paula for the design lesson!

Time for Fall Cards?

Nooooo!  I can't believe that it's time to create Fall-themed cards.  Especially when it's 80+ degrees outside but here we go.  I usually start my Halloween cards in September but August??  Operation Write Home has put the word out to send in Fall-themed cards now for our heroes so I will rise to the occasion.  It was actually a nice change to pull out the Fall colored cardstock and the warm ink colors.  And I even found some gorgeous fall patterned paper that I had bought last year!  Bring on the rake...I just noticed that the maple tree in the backyard has dropped a few leaves already!

  • Stamps of Life Cardstock in Pumpkin and Tangerine
  • Stamps of Life "mums2stamp" flowers and sentiment
  • Stephanie Barnard's ColorBox ink in Pumpkin and Tangerine
