The Paper Players #407: A Sketch from Jaydee

It's time for another fun challenge over at The Paper Players!  This week is hosted by the talented Jaydee and she has come up with a wonderful sketch:

I thought this sketch was perfect to use some patterned paper that I've been hoarding saving!

On a SU Mint Macaron card base, I layered three different sized stitched strips of SU Tranquil Textures DSP.  I just love the colors in that paper!  I die cut 'hugs' from My Favorite Things 3 times in Whisper White and layered them up for the sentiment.  I inked up the octopus from SU Sea of Textures and popped it up over some die cut sea grass from the SU Under the Sea Framelits Dies.  I finished it off with a few Pretty Pink Posh Marshmallow Confetti sequins for bubbles.  I'm not sure I'd like to be hugged by an octopus, but I think my grandson will get a laugh.  He was just here for a visit and was looking for one in the tide pools when we weren't building forts!

Check out the DT's blogs for some great inspiration:

And just a few rules:
  1. Create a new paper project.
  2. Upload your project to your blog with a link back to The Paper Players.
  3. Provide a direct link to your blog post for your challenge entry.
  4. Please link your card to no more than FOUR challenges (including ours).
  5. Have fun!

Thanks for stopping by ~ We hope you'll find some time to play along this week!

  1. As soon as I saw your card I said “awww!” I don’t think there could be a cuter sentiment for that little guy. Although, I don’t necessarily want a hug from him. Haha! Glad to see that I’m not the only one “saving” DSP. I know we should use it up but some pieces are just too pretty, aren’t they? Such a fun card!

  2. Well, if I were EVER to be hugged by an octopus, I would want it to be a purple one like this! I was just thinking about stamping something purple today...now you've inspired me!

  3. What a perfect choice of paper! I think this is one of the nicest cards I've seen using this set. Perfect sentiment. I'm not sure how it would feel to be hugged by an octopus but I guess it would be eight times a normal hug.

  4. I love this cute octopus against the waves - he reminds me of the purple octopus in the Toy Story 3 movie!! Not sure I'd want to be hugged by him, but cute all the same!

  5. Hi Annie! Hope all is well. Came by to tell you how much I miss seeing you over at CIE.... and, of course, to see a great card. But, I was so happy to see that pic of some serious fort building with your grandson. So sweet!

  7. Oh my goodness your card really looks so textured! The purpley ocotopi is so so fun! Love the small sequin touches too. Don't all kids love forts? How come we stop building them? Haha!

  9. Annie, the pop of purple is perfect against your hoarded errr I mean saved DSP. Using the same color on the base really allows the octopus to pop. Gorgeous - oh and love the fort, too!
    Hugs
